3:17 “I unbolted the this thing…” haha. Good video man really helped me
out

Jason Drew says:

im wondering the same thing

blinkingredlightable says:

a month later after replacing the heater core, the truck was in a major
accident and a total loss?

Lennon Tom says:

Great video. I have been putting this off in my 97 Jimmy for far too long.
Gonna tackle it ASAP. What brand heater core would you all recommend or
discourage?

steelmesh says:

It probably took me 4-5 hours, first time with this type of vehicle.

Alex Alvarez says:

This is great stuff!! Just wandering: How long did it take you, all in all?
For planning purposes… And thanks for loading this up!

Anthony 'Man' Stoner says:

shit, not cool man. I was really hoping it was not that big of a job.. *sigh

steelmesh says:

I know, that is why it costs so much, labor and warranty.

Adam Wallace says:

How do you separate the parking brake release from everything? I’m having
trouble moving on with the rest of the dash removal

steelmesh says:

High Five, git r done!!!

steelmesh says:

You’re welcome Sir!

steelmesh says:

The part that leaks into your car is only the heater core nothing
else…reuse the plastic box, mounting hardware, and screws. You may have
to match up the clamp with the single bolt that holds the aluminum pipes
attached to the heater core.

steelmesh says:

From outside the interior, in the engine bay, where the engine lay there
are just two hose clamps and two hoses to remove. When the heater went out,
I was away from home, I simply when to Home Depot, bought two barbed
plastic fittings, a brass coupler and teflon tape…I then pulled these two
hoses off and hooked it to the coupler and fittings, and drove off. I had
it like that for a few weeks. Essentially, you take the hot engine coolant,
send it to the interior of the car, then return it.

steelmesh says:

What box? The heater core radiator with two aluminum hoses?

patrick arnold says:

I just need to replace the box thats all I need to do …

Jay Blaze says:

ah ok cool, I cant thank you enough, this video is awesome and just what i
need bro!

chipjumper says:

I’m posting a link to this on Blazer forums

steelmesh says:

Do you mean flushing? It’s not required to replace a heater core; besides,
you want to keep all the corroded metal junk where it is.

patrick arnold says:

how long did it take you to do all of this ?

llebs says:

This video was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!

Matt Morgan says:

Thanks, man! video helped me out. I just got done doing this… REALLY not
looking forward to putting all of it back together though. Haha

Jason Bowers says:

been without heat for 2 years. this getting done this weekend. thanks for
the video.

steelmesh says:

Not to sure, dis-assembly maybe 2-3 hours…taking time.

Jay Blaze says:

I have to do this to my truck- Question in the firewall did you have to
disconnect anything else besides the two hoses going to the core? I noticed
they were already disconnected when you popped the hood just want to make
sure what I have to remove from the firewall/engine bay area

steelmesh says:

I just watched that part you’re talking about, you’ll see that the thing I
move out of the way was the ghetto bypass thing connecting the two hoses

em88trooperable says:

Good video. Did you try flashing out the core before replacing the core?

I4Inst1nct says:

Is mine bad? I was told it was because it would fog up my windows when i
would turn on my heater , also cause it had a smell of coolant. Is this
true?

steelmesh says:

Don’t wait too long, you’ll forget some stuff (can tell by the extra
hardware and parts you have left when you’re finished lol)

steelmesh says:

Yes, the only steamy sweet chemical smelling stuff that enters the
passenger cabin is engine coolant; it is 100% your heater core because the
heater core hose connections are in the engine bay so no other leak than
that hunk of aluminum.

pilar-arturo antuna says:

Great video! thank you for thanking the time to film this process.
