Teardown of a 4L60E transmission to be rebuilt.

Online Police says:

I have an 03 VW Passat that that has a hard knoch on the downshift from 5th
to the 4th and only when it is cold. Would that be a bad solenoid?

modelfreak125 says:

Great video, very entertaining..thank you! I’d like to make my 2wd low mile
(39,00 miles) 4L60E from a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado into a 4wd, tranny. Do I
just need an adapter, main-shaft and seal kit? looks like I wouldn’t have
have the piston compressor. as I could just leave that in the case

Truck Dynasty says:

You can weld a very small bead around the sun shell and gear to permanently
fix that problem with the splines messing up. Make sure not to overheat the
weld and warp it.

Robert Tully says:

Wow!! Excellent video Hiram. I would have killed for a video like this
one years ago to present. Hope you get published. I have boat trannys I
have to work on when I get back to Florida. Today my Ex wife has been told
her transmission is shot and I used your video to help her understand why
it COST so much. Thank Again. Bobby

Bill Waggoner says:

yo i blew out 3rd gear, this car is a shit box anyways. still got blood oon
the hood from hitting niggers

mharding8 says:

will you rebuild my trans?

mharding8 says:

you have skills, Hiram. Great video.

dave reece says:

Thank you! I dont think you could find a better video on this transmission.
ive watched a transmisson guy take this trans apart countless times and i
learned more from your video than watching him do it. bless you

Tony Barnes says:

Wow.. I’ve been through a few videos now in hopes of seeing if I’m capable
of doing this (plenty of engines but never torn down a tranny) and all I
can say is wow your video is best by far!! Thank you so much

theduke502 says:

8 people let their coffee get cold…

Ricky G says:

after watching this video, I really dont want anyone else touching my trans
now. Hiram’s the T Man

Keith Stinson says:

I have rebuilt a couple transmissions in the past. I am no pro but I did
pull it off successfully. Having done it first hand though I have to say
this guy is like a transmission ninja. I do not remember the dis-assembly
being anywhere close to 30 minutes on the ones I did. I must have spent a
solid 3-4 hours and we are talking 47RE, 350, 700R4 transmissions that I
did. This guy really knows his stuff.

tonystewartdalejr says:

This is an excellent video Very informative. I am watching the rebuilt
video next. Thanks for the great vid.

bigbuick307 says:

great vid!!!!

super8car says:

Robdt1005 that is the dumbest racist comment ive ever read.

Justin Jerrow says:

yes theres light coming from the reverse input drum! hope you replaced it

robdt1005 says:

My dodge tranny isn’t like this, its just gears, no bs…..pure gears and
power. GM aims theirs cars and trucks at poor people while my truck is made
for white people that demand power.

robdt1005 says:

chevy only makes junk, just go with Dodge, their entire drivetrain is
flawless.

Kirk Stankiewicz says:

Great Presentation. I am an Automotive Teacher at one of the Technical High
Schools in Connecticut. After a few theory lessons, I have my 12th graders
tear down and re-assemble a 4l60E. We have a 1999 1500 5.3 truck we test
them in. Your video is an excellent addition to our activity and the kids
were watching it on their phones. Thanks! Kirk

John Abramyan says:

Hi Hiram My 2000 Astro RWD has 1 and 2 shifts and reverse, but no 3rd. will
the valve body repair help?. If yes, then I should be able to do it with
the trans on vehicle.Please advice.

Jovani Dante Griego says:

Hi, im sure you would know the answer to this, does the 700r4 and 4l60e
have the same bolt pattern on the bell housing to the engine? Ive been
looking everywhere. Im trying to bolt up to a 235 i have a adaper plate
that fits a 700r4, would that fit a late model 4l60e?

Give A Hoot says:

Just say its going to cost a lot of money to fix lol cheaper to just buy a
new one

MrChuckindenver says:

great video..watching it helped find an no reverese issue i had after
installing a new valve body..at 14:40 you went into the length of the
bolts, i hope no seriuos damage was done …thanks for the great
