the person that named the newer grand prix the grand prix never met or
talked to the person that made the car because i want to see a grand prix
on the actual grand prix race you would loose a rear strut on the first lap
and a tire would fall off
GREAT Video !!
Can someone tell me how much time replacing the coupler takes? The dealer
tells me 4-5 hrs!
Thanks i need to replace mine. Now i know how.
i cant get the part that holds down the alternator, any suggestions?
Cool vid, does anyone know what is the maximum size of pully that i could
go down ? Without making any other mod, thanks
Are they all couplers the same size?
i’m having this same problem right now man i hope this is the fix because
im not trying to buy a new super charger.
If you don’t know how to take the belts off, you probably shouldn’t mess
with anything else…ever. Take it to a professional
you overfilled it then only fill to bottom of threads 1.5-1.75 bottles
Thanks >>>>>>
@lankywiesner could be. Mine got better with the AC engaged. I think its
because it put tension on it and raised the RPMS so it dint have a chance
to rattle as much.
Never use ANYTHING other than the GM or Ford supercharger oil. Both Ford
and GM use (as well as Jaguar) use the Eaton blowers and the oil that they
use is specially formulated for the iron bearings they use.
There is no gasket between the nose and the casing?? My M62 got no
gasket…!
@walkingfreak Of course you can – very common mod. I have a much smaller
pulley on mine and it boosts the HP noticeably.
i mean i guess you could use some different type of oil but i wouldn’t do
it personally, gm just changed up there supercharger oil formula says
courtesy chevy probably for the better. the new bottles suck though, i
would just stick with supercharger oil no risk of ruining some bearings or
the entire blower to save a few bucks
Great video! My 01 GTP is coming up on 210,000 miles and the fron seal at
the pulley was leaking. Was having to add oil every couple weeks and I
could get a whif of the stinking oil every time I washed the car and got
down next to the front passenger side wheel. TestMasters in Augusta, Ga.
are selling me a rebuilt snout for 400.00, comes with new coupler.
@FFJNVT Hi …i have one question : i have the engine 3.8 supercharged and
i have a ford capri and i wond to put this engine in this car….but i dont
have a transmission……. can you tall me what modell transmision can i
put in this engine ? thang you
It all depends but I don’t think mines ever been changed and I have 105K
with no issues. I’m pretty sure they don’t go bad too often.
Unless you are top swapped your gt2 doesn’t have a coupler or even a
supercharger for that matter
What size coupler?
@3859c1 sorry for the late reply…I had to use a total of 2.5 bottles in
mine
actually ‘Officially’ the M90 supercharger on the GM L67s is a
non-serviceable part, there is no specification on when to change it…but
yes you are correct IT DOES NEED TO BE CHANGED PERIODICALLY
lol you used the expensive oil just use gear oil
can you get the coupler from any parts store or do you have to go the
manufacturer
@genso84 yeah there is no gasket
depends if u just slaped one on
Thank you and you are definitely correct. I could not find a solid number
on what to torque the snout bolts down to so I just went with 15. It’s
amazing how well a little gasket maker seals up so nicely. As an update, it
has been a couple of months and everything is still holding up better than
ever.
if you only hear the noise on cold start and it goes away as engine warms
up, this is completely normal and you have nothing to worry about 🙂
@FFJNVT NO, in fact they say to never change it unless you have a project
such as this
that, my friend, is ingenuity.
Yeah I have had my GTP for 2 years now and it has made the noise since I
bought it. I was about to replace the whole supercharger until I researched
it and came up with this…sure glad I did! Just recently, I had been
getting an odd misfire that would come & go and apparently a bad coupler
will also cause knock retard so I was able to kill 2 birds with one stone.
Since replacing the coupler, I have honestly noticed a little more power
and the noise has been silenced completely! Easy to do too
Im gonna do it when i change my pully now 🙂 I i dont w/ a 3.4 pully itd
prolly bring my whole s/c down! So im glad i found this!
Rofl…this guy will ruin your S/C. the oil must be maintain, and check
every 50,000 miles.Oil is a life saver for all fiction application. The oil
is very IMPORTANT,cause it lube the front rotor pack ball-bearing. Mr.
hobble is lost.
since when were rangers 3.8 and no it will not fit your 4.3 without a lot
of custom work, ditch the 4.3 drop in a sbc a lot easier on the wallet and
faster too
Once the coating remove it self from the rotor packs,so of the chip will
cause blockage inside the ports and runner, affecting performance. The rotor
them become heat generator for the in-coming air.Remember cool air make
power.hot air cause ping(engine knock). Supercharge is always
Hi-Performance,and so it should be service.
I have a 95 buick riviera. Makes a rattling noise at idle, I found it is
worst when in park or revers and the brake is engaged. Then when I turn the
a/c on, it gets exponentially worse. Does that sound like the coupler???
Thanks 🙂
