1982 s 10 instrument cluster removal
ASBESTOS WARNING.
THE GAGE CLUSTER CONTAINS A ASBESTOS LINER INSIDE OF EACH METAL COIL HOUSING.
I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN AND REPAIR CLUSTER.
DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR TO ATTEMPT TO CLEAN DUST FROM OLD ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS !!!!!
ESPECIALLY WIRE COILS IN METAL HOUSING!
ASBESTOS IS BAD NEWS AND NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAR FROM THE AIR!
Thanks brother
Thank you for creating this content my gas gauge is not working and it isn't the fuel sender
Thanks my new old truck will be better because this video.
Hey brother… i have a 1991 silverado and when i turn the key on the gas gauge goes down and when i turn the key off the gas gauge goes up and the speedometer goes up also.. any suggestions anyone please!!!!!!
Those AC Delco junk box trucks had so many issues….Garbage Ac Delco fuel pumps failing at 30k miles, AC LEAKS, Door hinges wearing out at 80k, Dash gauges reading incorrect, horrible switches and clusters, heater cores leaking…..i can go on and on ….In 2022 The Garabge Ac Delco parts are 10x times worse because they are made in China direct from the Assembly line…..GM products are a complete joke
My odometer and trip don’t work, fuel gauge stays maxed out
And my oil gauge bounces all over the place so I had to add an aftermarket one. May end up buying another cluster.
cant get the damn thing out on my 1991 gmc. did everything in the video, disconnected the gear selector cable, everythings nbolted, still something holding it in
How did you hook the shifter indicator cable back up?
@1:40 That "wire" (more like fishing line) coming up from the steering column is supposed to be permanently attached to the instrument cluster, and the other end attaches to the steering column with a spring clip. The gear indicator is just a spring gauge that you access from the front side (remove the "lens" and the gauge bezel). This video shows a complete cluster tear-down, with the gear indicator exposed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAgZ8R_gE5c&t=23s
For those servicing a truck with automatic transmission – remove the knee panel directly below the steering column (two obvious screws on the panel). With the transmission in Park , find the lower end of the steering column cover and run your fingers up the right side. At about 3 o'clock, you'll feel the clip securing the "wire". Push it down the column (towards the firewall), and it will pop off.
I'm having a issue with the fuel gauge on my cluster
