Hi Johnny, great video wish it was this easy for me HAHA!! I bought a ’01
sierra with a Pioneer DEH-24 the guy hardwired it in and must of not known
what he was doing. My instrument panel lights are very dim, and my dimmer
switch doesn’t control them at all. In order to have sound I need to turn
the key back to AC let the radio come on then start the truck? Would you
have any idea whats up?

Johnnysshop says:

@heartlessvietboy I agree. This is my kids car.

Logindudeproductions says:

does a harness come with the radio…

4chanVids says:

I’m an idiot I didn’t know about the factory harness and I cut the wires. I
bought the kit that was supposed to have all the accessories bit it didn’t
say anything about the factory harness. Well now I need to know if I can
just solder the wires together from my new stereo HU harness to the cut
wires? some 1 help, thanks.

FireStorm says:

I have a question: I am doing an install because my old stereo broke and
when I took out the old stereo I noticed it was a set of amps and a mini
filter fuse box. The 8 amp was attached to the yellow (wire+12 Volt
Constant). black (ground) and yellow were both attached to the filer fuse
box. The red wire (+12 Volt Accessory) had a 1 amp on it. Is this something
that came with my previous deck (not installed by me) or is it something i
would have to add to the new deck?

Johnnysshop says:

@AlwaysReal4Life Check the ground first, it could possibly need another
wire but usually they don’t. Could depend on the manufacture as well.

Johnnysshop says:

@Angelboy863 Sometimes the antenna does need to be plugged in. I’d have to
see what you have going on to really diagnose.

a015zzzzz says:

whAt is the brown wire for/.plus i did the hook up and when i turn up the
sound my head unit shuts off. why IT A CLAIRON .

oxPuRpxo says:

So what do info now?

Johnnysshop says:

@i6live6for6this Yeah, or ground it on the chassis.

1Corvetteracing says:

i have all my wires matched up but my stereo wont shut off went my truck
shuts off even if i take the key out can you help?

Logindudeproductions says:

did that black harness come with your new radio???? please help!!

Johnnysshop says:

@sk1tz0k1d Well you would have to use the manual for each product (harness
and radio) to match them up. Or get the meter out and start testing!

Johnnysshop says:

Not sure but from looking online it says mp4 should work.

1TRINIDJ says:

would the deck work with out ground?

mike s says:

where can i connect the power wire that is on my stereo harness but not on
the two harnesses that connect to the car also can i connect the grounds
together from each harness and not worry about having to ground it to the
chassis thanks for your time and knowledge…

Tj Gonzales says:

thanks this is the most helpful thing ive found. my problem is i need to
add a input converter for an amp since my aftermarket stereo has no rca
outputs..so what wires do i wire the input converter wires to? and which
harness would they be on? im in trouble here..thanks so much

Spencer Porden says:

Hey! I have a 1989 Chevy Camaro, and the wiring harness I bought says it is
for my car, but the plug for the factory plugs is just a large black shell
with a bunch of metal things on the inside. Do I need to take the plug out
of my old radio to put it in the wiring harness?

Devan Pookie says:

@kawasaki000000000000 Probably the remote

Johnnysshop says:

Yeah, put some tape or a crimp cap over so they don’t ground out or
anything.

Johnnysshop says:

@xsolanum Well… It appears it was erased for some reason

Johnnysshop says:

Awesome, glad I could help!

vettelover2009 says:

@taggo1 you’re getting feedback from the alternator…Most common is the
RCA’s and amp power wire are routed together…I usually try to mount one
set on each side of the door sills…this has never failed me…never had
feedback on any stereos ive installed. Keep them away from each
other…Power wires are high frequency, and RCA is low frequency, so they
are easily intuded by high frequncy sound…also try to buy good sheilded
RCA cables

Johnnysshop says:

No. I’ve seen them work but usually the radio body is touching the firewall
on the car. Grounds are important.

Mark Hall says:

Hey man… I have an 89 firebird and my stereo will turn on if I connect
the hot and neutral into the hot, but it will not turn on at all if I plug
the hot in the hot and neutral in neutral. I wouldn’t care at all, but when
I turn the car off and back on, it doesn’t save any settings and I have to
re input them. Do you know of anything I can do for that? I am running a
Kenwood KDC-148. Thanks for your video and for taking the time to answer me!

Johnnysshop says:

@AlwaysReal4Life Black is more than likely ground but the few that I have
left over are a remote wire (I think blue on this) which is used with an
aftermarket amp. The others would be for dimmer, etc.. Not needed.

Angelboy863 says:

The radio just doesn’t turn on, hasn’t turned on whatsoever yet. does my
ground not going to the chassis and instead the factory ground wire affect
this? Does the antenna plug have to be plugged in in order for it to turn
on? I have a pioneer 1300mp and vehicle is 2000 Toyota sienna minivan.

Twistedkeys says:

cool thanks!

Johnnysshop says:

@ryanjamesw I would get the harness. You can just wire it in to any vehicle
but will have to test each wire to find out where it goes.

Mateo Villarreal says:

what if all the colors don’t match how do you know what to do with the
wires that don’t match color?

Johnnysshop says:
