How To Replace A EVAP Purge Valve On A GM Truck or SUV

Ever wonder “why won’t my car start after filling with gas”? In this video I show you how to replace the EVAP purge valve on a 2007-2013 GM truck or SUV.
The vehicle was showing symptoms of an extended crank, especially after filling up with gas, and a check engine light with P0442.

Sorry about the poor quality of video on this one. I didn’t realize the camera was aimed too high. I tried to save it though with my awesome video editing skills!

PARTS USED IN THIS VIDEO: (Don’t buy the ones at Oreilly’s. I went through about 4 of them before I paid the little bit extra for this AC Delco one.)

Oh wow I had that message come on today and sure as shit the last guy that worked on my 2006 Malibu 2.2 he layed on top of the motor and broke the plastic tube on the purge valve assembly then just duct taped it back on without saying anything. Gas cap was fine. Now I know why that gas cap message came on!!!!

Easy way to fix the problem….ANOTHER way is bypass the room full of engineers at GM, FORD and CHRYSLER that have been deliberately sticking it to their loyal customers for 50 years by cuming up with ways to force MOST poor saps that can't fix their own vehicles BACK to their dealership for ANOTHER colossal ROASTING.Buy something Japanese and NEVER worry about all this garbage they are deliberately setting up to MALFUNCTION and have been for a generation. THAT folks, is why the Japanese seen a HUGE market here. Looking forward to your next "HOW TO" on your GM.

Amber Kay Kilgore says:

The code in my olds bravada suv is p1441-replace evap solenoid. Is it found in the same spot as this video? The part itself is 40 bucks so I'd like to try to fix it myself
