Good video, although it didn’t take me 10 minutes to get my cluster out.

Craig Ladd says:

Where did you get the replacement motors or part numbers? Everything I can
find online is for the 2003-2006. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Nick Dama says:

thank you this is very helpful

wavejunkie26 says:

To replace the stepper motor do you just put it back in and turn or does it
require soldering them back into place? Some other sources show desoldering
and soldering as the way to remove and replace.. Just curious if its not
needed!

charger771 says:

ok thanks and also i just got the cluster put back together, and the
needles are not reading right at all.like the temp goes up to 210 and the
oil pressure goes under like not even where its suppose to be, and
speedometer is up to 10 and this is when i turn the key onto the ON
position. what should i do??

Jennies Garage says:

Yes, I think on most vehicles the needles are just pressed onto the shaft.

charger771 says:

does taking the needles out of the cluster the same as taking the needles
out of a 96 chevy truck instrument cluster? do they just pop out like that?

felipepatriciomx3 says:

In amazon

Shizmixin says:

Hey I have a ’04 Silverado. Where can I purchase the gas stepper motor?

Brandon Groenendyk says:

Can you still find these style stepper motors? Tried Amazon and Ebay all I
could find was the 03-06 style. Post a link to where I can get my hands on
some maybe??

wafrederick says:

No problems with them yet, none of them came back failing.

remowil55 says:

the bulbs are #194

GreenKata says:

I have a question and thought maybe you could answer it. I’m switching out
the cluster of my Chevy Impala for a more stylish one. So my question is
this, is the miles traveled saved in my old cluster or is that something
the cpu in my car remembers and just tells the new cluster? Since it’s all
computers and what not with digital numbers I wasn’t sure about this.

4244john says:

Okay, so I recently got a 2001 tahoe, and the mileage/parking little
cluster don’t light up at all, the rest of the gauge cluster does light up
but the parking, reverse etc, icons don’t! Sometimes it works and sometimes
it doesn’t, what could be the problem? Please respond. Thank you!

tonymagona334 says:

Oh it’s going to be a huge project! I want to make the entire car Tron
themed with lights inside AND outside.

Chip Mills says:

I have a 2005 GMC Envoy and the stepper motor I have ordered looks nothing
like these. After researching I found out that my model calls for the type
of motor that needs to be soldered. Also I believe that before removing the
needles they should be indexed. Go to you tube and do a search for “GM
Stepper Motor Replacement and Instrument Panel Disassembly”. I couldn’t
insert the link directly. This could enhance what you see in this video.
I’ll be attempting this myself soon.

ScottysDetailing says:

do you know what would cause my gas gauge to bounce when my blinker is on?

blessed777favored says:

Is this an instrument cluster repair it didn’t look like the ones for the
needle the white small motors that you solder.

tonymagona334 says:

Awesome. Now all I need to do is buy the Trailblazer I drive from my dad
and replace the lights in the back with Tron colored LEDs. And maybe change
the needles 🙂

Jeff A says:

How do you get the needles back on in the right place?

Glass House says:

They will say what the new one has.

alfredomad559 says:

Does anyone know how to put back the gauge needles the right way? I took
them off to install a glow gauge faceplate but when i put the needles back
on they were off, ex the gas needle was way off and the speedometer needle
too… thanks

MrMarston623 says:

All day? Try ten minutes. Takes more time to pop it apart.

Edwin Leon says:

i was wondering what size are the bulbs in there that light up the gauge
and how many are there and do you think i can fit White SMD bulbs i would
like to have the gauges match the white Led interior i have going

Robert Sigsworth says:

Wow great vid!! My gas guage pointer now is at the 6 oclock positon just
above the oil pressure at 40psi. Can I do the same as you and replace the
stepper motor? Also the pointer used to show E while the low fuel warning
light would come on even after fueling up full. Then after a while the
pointer would “jump” to F. Now light comes on and goes off like before but
pointer is now at 6 and NEVER moves. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

mikelime514 says:

So what if some of my lights look dim almost like they burned out. Could
you replace the bulb inside or not?

Ben Forbush says:

Any idea if the ABS light and E-brake light bulbs can simply be pulled out
or covered? My ABS is disabled because of some problems that I cannot
afford to fix right now and the warning lights are irritating at night.
Thanks!

Jennies Garage says:

Happy to help out, thanks!

Jennies Garage says:

I’ve never experienced that problem, but it sounds like a bad connection.
With the key on, you could try moving different connections and wires
around the cluster, and see if anything causes the lights in question to go
on or off. Good luck!

Jennies Garage says:

Sounds like a plan! Glad you liked the video!!

4244john says:

I found a solution actually. I took off the face plate the covers the whole
thing, then i unscrewed the instrument cluster and unplugged the
connection. I got a bottle of compressed air and cleaned out the connection
as well as the connector. after that i put everythin back together and it
works! i guess it was just dirty and wasn’t making a good connection. There
are plenty of videos on how to take of the cluster! I hope this helps. 🙂

daveyjmon says:

I have a 2001 Tahoe where can you get the stepper motors for it? All of the
ones they have on Ebay are for 03 and above year models for the Tahoe.
Thank you for your help or if you have the part number that would be great
thanks for your help an time. Great video.

Paul Johnson says:

i have no dash lights wat seems 2 b the problem

ShoppingForKills says:

If you haven’t gotten your answer by now, yes you can. you have to no which
one is your ABS light on the back it will bee one of the smaller twist lock
bulbs. simply turn it a quarter or half a turn and pull it out. problem
solved!

TeDuaMalakie says:

thank you ~~ awesome !! i have taken my blazer cluster apart before, but
honestly, i never gotten this deep !! only the back cover and the front
plastic, only for cleaning purposes ! i always worry to break something
though .

peevy23 says:

Do you know the name of the plastic parts that’s underneath the gauge face?

Salvador Chavez says:

what about the “cluster voltage regulator”, can you help me with that
please. thank you.

Tyler Alexander says:

hey i just recently replaced my cluster, but the odometer s wrong :s does
the cluster have its own computer setup? should i not read the milage thats
on the computer in the truck?

Dennis Hunter says:

What year is this? Most instructions claim soldering is necessary, and they
steppers don’t have the quik release your has. What Model is this exactly?
I am afraid the older the car, the less chance it will have these quik
releases.

32toddis says:

Stay away from myairbags. They use the cloned motors that are not approved
by GM and they will fail again. They are using the cheap knock off parts!
Try gmgaugerepair

blessed777favored says:

I purchased some cluster, but the ones, I have are black, does that make a
difference Also I purchased a soldering pump but when I press it down it
has a needle sticking out of the tip is that normal this is my first time.
Also do I have to un hook the battery first before I do this?
