I have the exact same issue going on did you resolve the unlock functions? Even my remote start works just not the unlock. I was told I need a new fob but I can get it to unlock it its apart and I run my knife or metal over the unlock contacts.

Thanks,
Sean.

Thank you so much for this educative video 🙂 I got my remote working after following the steps mentioned in the video. Certainly saved $100 🙂 cancelled my appointment with dealer after watching this video which otherwise would have costed $92 for diagnosis. Once again very helpful video 🙂

I have 3 button remote. 1) lock-unlock 2) YELLOW button… don’t know what it does
and 3) “aux” button.
Battery died. replaced it. Remote lights up but is not communicating with car; is there a procedure of pushing 3 buttons to re-activate remote and car alarm?
thanks in advance if you can help me.
Going to call around also.

This was a very helpful, easy to follow video. I followed your directions and was able to clean the contacts on the remote for my 2005 Malibu. However, my unlock button continues to not work. Lock and trunk? Working, have always worked. Unlock? Not working. Could it be something inside the vehicle and not inside the fob? Thoughts?

Shannan Newton says:

I have done all in the video but not able to reprogram my 2004 nissan quest remote. The buttons were working intermittently so I changed the battery recently (I also got a new battery on the vehicle about the same time). I tried to reprogram several times and it just wont work. Overall in good condition, only potential issue could be that the metal under the battery keeps falling off. Could that be an issue? I can send pictures…

Great video. I rode home today in the rain on my Harley with my FOB hanging on my belt. Then later when I tried to use it to lock my car it wouldn’t work. I watched your video, then took the back off the FOB and found it full of water and other crap. So I did what you said to do….dried it up first, then cleaned it, and now it works great. You’re a life saver. Thanks! You made my day. By the way…I have a Nissan too and my FOB is exactly like the one you showed.

I was just about to buy a new remote for my Saturn (the Unlock button wouldn’t work) when I found this video. I opened my key fob and there was oily grease all over the contacts. So I cleaned it up a bit and it seems to be working. However there is still a little bit of caked on grease around the unlock contact…how do I get this off without harming the contact? Thanks 🙂 Sara

Mine stopped working and I thought it was the battery… took it apart to find that it had come unsoldered on the battery holder like you said. Thanks!
