Great Video! Thanks!!! I have 2001 Buick Lesabre Custom 3.8. Very Helpful!!!
Thanks for the Video Brain, I have 2002 Impala 3800, looks like its set up a bit different. I gonna start next Saturday.
Thanks,
Thanks for posting this man! Great tips!
Not trying to tell you your business, but you should have played some smooth jazz in the background.
what kind of gun are you using???
Learned a great deal, thanks for the time and passion!
I think I used a 1/4 inch swivel and a shallow 3/8 socket
What did you end up using to get that last bolt from underneath the alternator? I’ve watched a couple of times, but I couldn’t really see what it was.
Hey! I’m Katie.I did -25 lbs last 30 days.More here hawght.so#2owW
Hey your video was very helpful. I would like to ask you a few question my phone 217 552 4168
Brian, thanks for the video. I’ve got a Buick Park Ave I’m working on now and I have limited tools and mechanical knowledge…although as time goes by I’m discovering I’m more mechanical than I have given myself credit for. Evidently, the EGR burned through in Feb and the car has been sitting since then. Someone advised me that it may be too late to repair as rust may have started setting up. I’m planning on pulling the plenum Sunday. Any advice if I find rust?
you need to put that oil filler tube back in before you drop something in that hole
you can respond to me at adamduncan82783@gmail.com
thanks
Hey Brian i have a 96 bonneville that is getting a misfire on cylinder 5 i have changed the plugs and wires tested the coil packs checked for compression and all is good i put a screw driver up to the injector and i hear it ticking off when i rev up the motor i can see some leaks in the plenum gasket. do you think this could be the cause of the misfire.
I had the exact same on my monte from the blizzard here in ct and pushing it a little bit. replaced the plastic elbows with aluminum ones to prevent the breakage in the future. if anything id have to replace the rubber gaskets around them in the future. replaced my water pump as well but from the engine overheating for so long i think my intake gaskets have gone as well. i know my plenum gaskets are gone as i can see the oil leakage on top of my valve cover. hoping this video helps me though
is it the bottom of the plenum as you said, ? or is ti the bottom of the aluminum intake manifold that is wet wit coolant? usually the coolant passages in the plastic plenum will burn/ corrode through causing the bottom of the upper plenum to be soaked, however the lower gaskets go all the time and it is not much more work to to the lower gaskets once the upper plenum is off.
Hey Brian, i’ve got a Monte Carlo 3.8 thats losing coolant at 115,000 miles on it. I checked them plastic elbows while the engine is hot and they look fine but the bottom of my plenum is drenched. What do you think? Intake gasket?
I wish you were my neighbor!
Great job. Do you always have to replace both upper and lower?
i hear crickets lol
is there a web site showing u how to remove and installing a motor on a 1999 buick lesabre
I noticed the WMMS sticker in the background. u in Cleveland area? was wondering if you’d be willing to help me on my buick. don’t have time or the full knowledge but would love to learn.
I am driving a 2004 grand prix gt with 230k miles and i just had my valve covers replaced. I am still hanging on with this car, i bought it brand new and its still getting me all over florida!
Impressive! U did that there, dude. Kudos 2u
where did you learn to do this so fast?
have a 3.8 and I think it might be time for a new engine. Does smoking from the engine under the hood mean a cracked block? The car smokes from the engine even when its cool and Im not sure what the problem could be. At operating temp of 200 the car only goes to 50 and then loses power. After it starts to lose power, it completely cuts off. The car wont start again until its cooled off
Brian, I have been doing quite a bit of work since the dealer wanted 3.5k on my daughter’s for repair. 3.8 03 impala. Did.t realize how much stuff was involved. Got the intake back together. Backside of upper has a approx 3/4 hose coming off a fitting that inserts to the lower backside mid portion of the the upper intake. There is a 1/4 in tube connection point on the top side of the fitting. Cant find the hose. What am I missing?
yeah I know.. thats what my doc said.
Bro switch to decafe ur way intense…thanks foe posting.
are you showing people how to do it !! or are you just seeing how fast you can do … it took you 3 min just to get the rad.open and 10 min of dropping tools this is the most eastist job to do on a 3800 motor Lol !!
Badass
thanks! this saved me a ton of time
