NEXT! time you do a video set , mark them part 1, part 2 and part 3 etc, i still cant find the one where you deal with the valves left in for cleaning

hauaniod001 says:

I have the same question as lang 56q cause after installing the 7 balls in the valve body, I have two ball left. This two ball came from the case side.

lang56Q says:

when assembling the valve body is there a check ball on the case near the spring i have heard that there needs to be a check ball there right next to where the spring is then you put the 2 gaskets and spacer plate
any info thanks

Hectorson3 says:

Hope i don’t have to do this to my 4L60E

MrWelloff05 says:

how do i know how many inch pounds are on the bolts?

BoxWrench says:

Today, I learned about the country of Burkina Faso. Thanks :]

BoxWrench says:

The 700R4 became the 4L60E in 1991-’92 after adding electronic shifting. They are nearly the same, but have some differences. Better to have the DVD specific for the 700R4, but you could use either. An ATSG manual is a must.

BoxWrench says:

Why? That phone is 6 years old with a 128 x 128 display.

mspinney203 says:

I want this video on my M528 phone.

thedevilboxers says:

The music makes this video seem really epic.

skulledmonte84 says:

Would that transmission be the same as an 1985 700r4,an would i do it pretty much the same as in the video

robbiepeters512 says:

Your video is popular on Burkina Faso

Meex1989 says:

This is too complex, I’m manual anyways.

wingsofsteel1 says:

this guy would make alot of money if he knew so much about transmissions this guy could be a millionaire all day dealing with transmission. rebuilding them or fixing them

fordman4x492 says:

i have a 95 gmc sierra 1500 with the 4l60e and it wont shift into over drive. it goes through all of the gears fine except over drive.

nodealertouchesmyJag says:

I have a ’94 Jaguar XJ40 with a ZF4HP24 transmission. It doesn’t always shift smoothly. Are you familiar with these tranys? If yes what would be the typical problems with these units? The fluid is nice cherry color and on the correct level.
Thanks.

wph1138 says:

i wouldn’t mind doing it myself to save the labor on it. And knowing i did it myself would be cool. The car is useless right now either way so I would not lose anything by trying. I have worked on cars my whole life but never transmission.Im just not sure what the skill level needs to be on this. i have changed trani’s b4 but never taken one apart.

BoxWrench says:

If you’re willing to do the work, this clip comes from a complete rebuild DVD that will take through the whole process…you can get it from our BoxWrench site if you want.
You’d need to get a rebuild kit for your trans though.

wph1138 says:

I took the pan off and changed the filter and seal and replaced the radiator ( leaking) and now it wont move or do anything at all. starts right up but does nothing in any gear. the problem was the tcc or something the we just unplugged drove for 1 day and now nothing. was told it might be some fluid pump shaft or something. this is on a 93 Chevy cavalier.Im thinking of taking it apart and if I cant fix it then junking the car even though its real nice for an extra car

BoxWrench says:

The car starting doesn’t have much to do with the transmission except for one thing… there is a neutral safety switch in most transmissions that won’t allow you to start the engine unless the trans is shifted into park or neutral.

Did you do anything to the transmission that may have effected the neutral safety switch?

wph1138 says:

I tried this and the car still wont start 🙁

ESPxCONxXx says:

here a better idea….sell your mustang…and buy a camaro

SilentServiceCode says:

NEXXT

Smokie420ish says:

Around $60 or so for a shift kit and probably around $200 for labor.

stinebrook says:

About how much would it cost for a shop to install a shift kit in my 97 z28 with a 4L60e?

chevguy502 says:

burn your mustang

Jose I Hernandez says:

Where can i get a shift kit for my mustang? Is there any web address?

Silas Miller says:

TransGo all the way! There’s only one checkball that is left out in the latest kit, but the hole is at least plugged up.

Silas Miller says:

If it lost line pressure on startup, most likely cause is the boost valve snap ring was not installed correctly and it fell out on startup. This results in very weak forward gear, and no reverse.

Otherwise I’d suspect an assembly fault in the valvebody. Most likely a check ball.

johnpro2 says:

I will stick to heart surgery 🙁
Good vid all the same. I was always told auto transmissions are the most complex bit of the car. seems that lifetime understanding is correct.
Practice makes perfect I guess.

importsstillsuck says:

lol guy sounds like Hank Hill’s boss

honkycabbit says:

wow that dudes voice sounds creepy

tweek857 says:

I just watched the video. I was wondering have you ever installeda shift kit and took it for a test drive and it just loses all pressure and just locks up won’t move or nothing what causes this ?
