See the complete removal and installation of the oil pan on a 1999-2007 GM engine in order to replace the oil pan gasket. The process is the same for the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L across GM products including Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Sierra, and Escalade.
***NOTE*** This repair was done in conjunction with other major engine work. You can remove the oil pan without removing the front differential or transmission by loosening the motor mounts and jacking up the engine.

Seems like he forgot to drop the transmission and the back differential and the whole engine! He's taking the whole truck apart!
This video leaves out to many details to teach someone how to do this. Watch this video if you like to watch people work on cars, find another video if you want to learn how to work on cars.
You did it the hard way bud
well at least it easy to replace the headlights. thats a joke how in the hell can someone do this on their own. hell can't do that in my driveway in a weekend. while you are at it replace the front steering and suspension.
lol. Are you in the Greenbelt Maryland area. If so. I need my oil pan gasket replaced. Please send contact info
Which truck is this?
Hello this gasket is the same for the 2003 GMC envoy XL 4.2 6 ciliders? Please help
Great video but i will say this is the video to watch if your getting paid by the hour on a job. You do not have to remove any steering components or axles, just unbolt the front differential and let it hang down as far as it will go. It only needs to go down an inch or so. That plus removal of the cross member is all that is necessary. Hope this is helpful to anyone in the comments!
Sir, you gave me a general idea of doing the 2003 GMC Envoy oil pan gasket. But I have a rear wheel drive. You went sooooooooo fast! I’m gonna try it in any case but my truck has no gasket it is sealed with Silicon from factory
no rtv on the pan ? just the gasket and the spots u mentioned?
At how many miles would you think about replacing the oil pump while you’re in there?
Does anyone know if its the same on an astro van. I have a cracked oil pan
While I can't stand oil leaks, guess add some oil when needed, too much work!
Buddy. You just gave me the confidence to do this. Bless you. Hopefully, you have a video on the transmission being taken out
was this video one with a 4×4 or 2wd?
Don't forget to replace the oil pick up seal at same time
Definitely over kill. Remove crossmember, drop down differential about 6 in you're able to get the pan out.
this deserves a like. short. sweet. to the point with specs also. much appreciated. gonna have to drop my pan soon for my pickup tube.
Excellent video. Thank you for the detailed video.
Is that the same process on a 2005 model suburban with the 5.3 L ?
Quick and detailed I like it
