Procedure is the same as not very similar to many models mainly from the 1996 to the 2002 era. Do we need a special device or something to reset the cars computer after replacing these solenoids??

On my 2004 GMC Envoy, when I shift out of park into any gear, it just revs up when I accelerate but no movement as if I'm in neutral. The shifter linkage cable is good and it shows I'm shifting into R, D, 3,2,1. Do you think the shifter solenoids have anything to do with this? Or do I have a bigger problem. When I changed the transmission fluid and filter about a month ago, the fluid was brown and there was a good amount of metallic sludge at the bottom of the pan. I changed those out because between gear shifts while driving, it would make a reving up sound before the shift. I took the pan off the other day to get to the solenoids and will be replacing them tomorrow, but noticed I had a little more metallic dust accumulation in the pan. Not sure if that's new, or if it's still from the old fluid that was in the transmission.
How do we clean the insides where the valves go? What tools?
Can the new shift solenoids be slightly different than the old ones

My Sierra has 230k and I'm in the middle of my second full rebuild and I should have bought a 2500hd with an Allison auto trans or preferably the 5spd manual. I have personally grown to hate the 4l60e.
1994 c1500 with 4L60e. Upshifts fine but doesn't down shift. I can down shift manually. No slipping in any gear. OBD1 system on truck and no check engine light on.
I have 2000 chevy express cargo van.4.3 and It doesn't go in reverse but go forward you think can be the shift silinode??
Hose for Silverado shift 1st to 2nd goes in the third and then acts like neutral
