So the mechanic isn’t just trying to rip you off when trying to sell you more parts??? That are good (AT the time).
Sorry man for the engine that really sucks, I just forked out about 1600 for a new transmission in my wife’s Town and Country. Feel your pain.

I read your comment about 2 months ago about the water pump, god dam I wished i’d listened re your experience.
All i’m going to say is 70 mph locking noise, and now a new engine, aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.
People out there please change the lot when you do the belt, as Andy suggest.

Chris.

I’m a proud Focus zetec owner 😀
Ford recommends replacing your Zetec Focus’ timing belt at 120k intervals. Tensioner and idler should be replaced at the same time, like Autotechviewpoint said. Always a good idea. Also, since you’re down there, water pump replacement can’t hurt. Not necessary, but can’t hurt. Just saying from experience with my own lol

Autotechviewpoint says:

No dealer recommendations, but considering you are already in there, many would say you might as well do it when you do the timing belt.

When is it necessary or at what mileage should the timing tensioner be replaced? Thanks in advance;)
