Just broke off two bolts in the block on my classic 91, hired a ford master
tech to heli coil the threads now its like new, did timing chain since we
were in the main part anyway. Pain in the f***ing a** but thanks for the
video !!

tempest411 says:

I know this is an old video, however…I would suggest that this video is
the reason they suggest you buy a new fan clutch with the water pump. An
out-of-balance/worn fan clutch will cause the water pump shaft to bend.
Also…don’t go cheap on parts for your car or truck! You can get a real
Motorcraft water pump off Amazon for about $80.00. That’s what I put on my
’85, along with a new fan clutch. No problems after six months!

weelgunny says:

Just pulled my pump and timing cover on my 88 F150. Broke 3 frekin bolts.
Had to hacksaw just inside the 2 outside bolts on the pump and the cover to
break em off. Then I was able to loosen the bolts with some big channel
locks, then unscrew it with my fingers easier than shit. Sigh of releaf.

weelgunny says:

LMAO! “engine vibrates so much my water pump is falling off” haaaa! Maybe
your timing chain jumped a tooth or 2. Very possible with that many miles.

John Cunningham says:

well i just finished putting in the water pump and im going out soon to
replace the curved radiator hose. and if it doesnt work i’ll go to get the
tester later on. thank you John

bigexodus says:

Stop shopping at aftermarket stores and go to a Ford dealer.

bluesuperman74 says:

Thank you for posting this.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@johnatv1995 I would check to see if you got a bad radiator hose, or
possibly one of the tanks on the radiator busted. Doesn’t sound like a
waterpump or timing cover issue if you got steam coming near the battery.
If you need to pressure test the system just go to autozone and rent a
coolant system pressure tester. Its about $75 to rent, and you get your
deposit back once your done with it.

pfun41 says:

@bigexodus Thats gonna get expensive. as long as it’s a genuine Motorcraft
water pump it should be good.

D4x4Bronc says:

fuel sending unit needs the contracts sanded with some steel wool and the
gauge will read agian.

22hawaiiantropic says:

Thank you for the video. It drives me nuts having to grab my standard and
metric sockets for my truck. I’ve been chasing a coolent leak on my 302 for
a lil bit now. first it was just the clamps on the line that runs into the
fire wall bought new clamps and stoped that leak, then it was my radiators
turn, went out and bought a 2 core no more visable leaks dripping anymore,
now the water pump seal has a real slow leak while i drive coming from
inbetween the bottom timeing cover and waterpump.

jakesmobilemechanicservices says:

@bluesuperman74 Not a problem. I hope this helps you if your repairing one
of these older Fords.

7ILLEVANS says:

hey…i just bought a 1990 f 150…electronic fuel injected 302…do you
happen to know the timing specs on this motor? and also wondering if i can
use a regular timing light to set it? a friend was telling me some of them
require a different system? any advice you could throw my way would be much
appreciated cheers

Eneyda Del Pilar says:

I can not fine the last part to finish the job

Whitehorze says:

Take it back and demand your money back. It’s BS that they gave you a
damaged part. If that ever happens again talk to a lawyer.

affinityfunable says:

Sorry but I just couldn’t hear well because of the wind them the engine.

tinydx95t2 says:

I think you need to find a better parts store lol.

bigggmustang73 says:

why don’t you drain the anit freeze and pour it back in?

Clay B says:

I got a 1993 F150 pickup and it would turn off by itself and i would have
to keep it reved, and when i would get to my destination it would leak
extreme antifreeze under the truck, im in the process of changing the
timing cover gasket, but idk if thats the problem or not, what do you think

jason coffey says:

need to put a water pump on a 96 grand mercury marquis need to take off the
fan shaft how do I do that

John Cunningham says:

=/ I have to do this with my 89 f250 5.8l 351w tomorrow. It would turn off
by itself and id have to keep it reved to have it stay on. also my radiator
was bone dry. When i got to school this morning it shutoff at the entrance
and there was a lot of smoke or steam coming from near the battery.

christopher33852 says:

My water pump is spraying every where on my bronco i priced them at
advanced 30 dollars with a life time warrenty no to bad

Alex's Bikes and Motors says:

man i didn’t believe that mileage until i saw the odometer. Nice truck.

Joseph Murphy says:

@bigexodus How come there are so many idiots on youtube. Do you really
think that all parts sold by a dealer, at three times the price, are
perfect? They have the same failure rate as any parts store. But go right
ahead and shop at the dealer for parts. It keeps all the union boys working.

brianbirc says:

Whats the TARD is that the short buses? Is lube boy mean teamsters union
scale as in you changed unions? or did machinists still fix buses but not
your shop. My dad had auto repair shop I did not know about auto mechanic
union. Auto worker union that makes cars. The teamsters I thought were
truckers. Thought the school districts worked on the busses as in city or
state employees? Teamsters drive school buses? Why did you not go to the
hall and get a machine shop job.

brianbirc says:

Good video for such a noisy place. Was that the US/MEXICAN border? Was the
Mexican guy selling panchos wood carvings? Too old to sell chickolets.

brianbirc says:

Union boys working is a good thing they are the ones who keep the scab wage
from falling to minimum wage. They are the people who gave us the weekend.
China is what jobs would look like without them.

brianbirc says:

You should really try and buy us made parts and products Union Boys would
be ashamed to shop at wallmart and belittled and made fun of. Show some
pride and do not support child slave labor.

brianbirc says:

Think I get it you were trying to pick up buses like a tard I have heard of
tard strong before but damn you could kick the king pins ass if your
wireing had stayed bad (just kidding)

brianbirc says:

Not saying that and not sure why you would think I was saying that.
Teamsters may have taken that work from machinist union not sure why usualy
some trade. In the elevator workers union we gave the iron workers the
elevator fronts when work was slow but took them back when it improved.
Elevator constructors do many trades as we have everything in the hoistway
and machine room exept 110 in the pit and machine room lighting. No
drywalling ether. Ironwork, electrical pluming mechanical telle etc

Joseph Murphy says:

Ah China is a communist country. Are you saying that the unions are
preventing America from becoming communist?? Many years ago I was a school
bus mechanic. As mechanics were were supposed to be paid under the
machinist union. The the teamsters wanted to control the shop so they could
shut down the tard. That meant I was paid as a lube boy, what an insult. I
did every thing from fixing wiring to installing king pins. School buses
are big and heavy. The teamsters union fucked us all over.
