Wonder why would the clips that came with the filter not fit? Isn’t it made
to replace what was on there before to match that filter for that car?

I’ve got a 2006 Taurus that is sputtering only when hard accelerating while
driving. Idle is fine, crusing is fine and soft acceleration is no problem.
And acceleration in park or neutral is good. It’s just a problem when hard
acceleration while driving. Wondering if it’s the fuel filter or the EGR
valve or what?! EGR valve on this car is hard to get to, behind manifold
between firewall. Haven’t gotten under there to look at filter yet.

I have a 94, 4dr station wagon/hatchback Taurus 3.0L, I think it needs the
Fuel Filter…I think it’s the same style as yours…what year is your
Taurus?

Good video. Thanks!

Al Smith says:

The whitish clips on this fuel filter for this Taurus and some other Fords
is Dorman part # 800-003. I think the black ones by the tank are 800-004
and you can get a mixed bag with 800-023. Why they don’t just make them
universal is beyond me…

my 2001 ford taurus has more than 100.000 miles on it, I will replace the
fuel filter asap, thanks for the video.

Most of the Gen 4 Taurus/Sables Ford changed to a new type of fuel
pump clip. The clips are still for a 5/16 diameter nipple but the shape is
somewhat different making them not interchangeable parts with out reworking
them. The clips are color coded with the black being 3/8 and the white
are 5/16. The 3/8 is used where the hose connects to the fuel pump on top
of the gas tank.
Edward, Good job and I appreciate your can do attitude to make it
work. Unfortunately the fuel filters tend to come with either no clip or
the older style. If your car has the newer style clip make sure you check
at the store what style clip comes with the filter and buy them separately
if needed. If you put it back with out a clip it will not hold.
Eventually it will fall off and you will be stranded.

This is a great video, Edward.
