You marred the axle with that grinder pretty good …hope that doesn’t
effect the sealing qualities of the new seal.

Michael Sackstein says:

all that work just to have to replace the entire rear end later on, what a
waste!

drekdwergify says:

boostercontrol100 says:

Hey been watching you for years! Can I ask what you think. I had a left
clicking axle (both axle boots worn torn and need replaced) the passenger
side was clicking so I had my buddies mechanic shop fix. On the way home no
click but I noticed this vibration under acceleration. my buddy said the
axle he got was prob bad he redo and get money back. So we redid and did
the other side also. Vibration gone but then slowly returned so he redid
and same thing happen. He think I need to buy dealer axles the one hes
getting are junk would that make sense to you? It feels like the drivers
side its like it wobbles when putting power down. Thanks for any advise
dude!

Loftworthy says:

Scotty, I noticed that when you sliced through the old bearing you made a
slight cut into the axle shaft. Won’t that compromise the strength of the
shaft?

SYNCPHAN1OM says:

Hey Scotty I got me a 2013 honda accord V6, will I be experiencing any
issues in the future with these cars

YouBocaj67Tube says:

Is the only with a Jeep? The person who engineered that should be sacked!

marco77acv says:

Good work Scotty!

landroverkid100 says:

Hi scotty. Have you ever worked on a landrover? Im a landrover mechanic
over here in england

t saint j says:

good video scotty….and i dont know why , but smashing that coconut at
the end made me literally laugh out loud !!

seejay92 says:

As you said this is a jeep. I have have a CJ7 with an AMC 20. Is this
“design” similar to what I have.

abbas jabbar says:

hi scooty , if i rev the car when its idling my ac becomes colder , is the
compressor failing or the condenser fans are bad ????

Latsaaben says:

Its clear that car companies wants to earn money after customers buy their
cars. It looks like they designed this at purpose, just to earn money :p

winkawak says:

unrelated question. Last night i hit a pretty wide and deep pothole but no
damage as far as i could tell. I do feel this tiny vibration from steering,
dont know if its normal or its been there. Is it true for most steering
wheel vibration its wheel/tire related? for noise or pull its suspension
related?

nibblenibblenomnom says:

Hey Scotty, long term viewer here. Though I love your videos, I think you
should invest in a clip on mic for your future videos. Most of the time
it’s kinda hard to hear you when you’re away from the camera. This would be
easier on you as well, so you don’ have to raise your voice higher than
normal just so we could hear properly. For this video, it was pretty hard
to hear you with the fan going off in the back (but understandable since
it’s hot out there). Just a suggestion, keep up the good work nonetheless!

Brad Morris says:

I bought a 2004 Jeep Wrangler because there are tons of parts available and
they are fairly easy to work on. Though maybe I should have bought a
Toyota. 🙂 Anyway, channels like this give me the confidence to take on
many repairs that I wouldn’t have before. Thanks!

Yannick de Vries says:

Where were you with that coconut haha. Looks awesome!

Ritesh Pahladsingh says:

These engineers are making me sick all the time. Not only the German and
the American engineers, but the Japanese also. For example, an alternator
where the brake vacuum pump is mounted on the back. Whe the seal goes bad,
oil goes in the the alternator and the whole alternator burns out.

argonian bilbo says:

Scotty, I finally been able to get around to buying my Vehicle Speed
sensor. Now is that the only thing that can cause a transmission to shift
late then all of a sudden work completely fine?

BRIAN Saldivar says:

I just Subscribed,

I have a question,

I bought a car about a month ago and have been fixing it

My left blinker won’t blink. And the low light won’t turn on.

I replaced the blinker bulbs and low light bulb in the front.
And it still doesn’t wanna blink on the dashboard, it stays stuck on green
left arrow.

I checked the fuses and turned on the hazard light, and saw that the front
blinker work, but the low light Don’t turn on.

Do you know what may be wrong

thabg007 says:

ive changed this 4 times, twice on my 2nd car (left and right), twice on my
3rd car (left and right), i had access to a military base that has a do it

Exmerion says:

Hey scotty. What brand cars has the least stupid engineering designs you

animal16365 says:

Hey Mr Kilmer. On my 02 celica. I’m thinking of replacing all the rubber
bushings on the suspension with polyurethane bushings. Any thoughts? ? BTW.
Great show and information

Smokeasammie says:

Why don’t you use air tools Scotty?

Billy Jackson says:

How hard would it be to do this on a 2000 Chevy Blazer with 4WD? Is it like
in the video or is it easier to get to?

JD1N3R0 says:

Hey Scotty I was wondering if a 98 eclipse Gs or GSX with Auto
transmission are reliable cars I don’t plan to mod it just keep it stock to
get me to point A to point B ive been hearing badthings like crankwalk and
things breaking offen than normal my brother also didn’t like where the
coilpack was located I really want to own one have you ever worked on a
eclipse? should I get a honda instead like a civic or integra my brother
has a 93 integra and still runs like a champ at 263k same engine give me
your thoughts on the 2 generation eclipses

JOE FPOC says:

i always wanted to ask a mechanic thats been doing it for a while… at
work now everytime any new technology comes out everyone thinks its stupid
or a horrible design. was the same thing though of when vehicles went from
carburetors to fuel injection systems? did you or other employees hate the
change?

shineything4444 says:

hey scotty i have a jeep cherokee and when it idles the oil pressure is
pegged at 80 but when i tap the gas petal it goes back down to 40 then
slowly climbs back up to 80 is that bad or is it fine when its driving down
the road its all fine and dandy no noises or anything it does have 200k
miles on it but doesnt burn oil.

Karsten Jackson says:

Hey scotty, I have a 02 ram 1500 slt 4.7l, it needed a new computer so i
ordered one years ago for it. Comes to find out when i had to replace it
just recently that it wont work because of the dealer installed keyless
entry installed. It will run for 10 seconds then auto shut off. Is there
anyway around this without deleting the keyless entry or buying a new ECM?
THANKS.

DatCarGuy310 says:

Hey scott, what causes your wheels to hum? I just did a wheel alignment and
balance on my 06 pilot, installed new bearings, but it still makes a loud
hum.. what can i do to fix this problem?

pelon713htown says:

Hey scotty i have a nissan maxima 1996 everytime i drive it and stop it
starts jumping like it wants to turn off i already change the spark plugs
but it keeps doing the samething can u help me thank u

Sean Kavanaugh says:

Hi Scotty. Great videos.. One question. What exactly were you cutting off
with the grinder? the bearing collar or the collar and the bearing? Any
advise on how to do this without messing up the axle?

Venturi2012 says:

Haha, I did this exact same job a while back, figuring things out as I go.
Wish I would have seen it sooner to save time but I did everything exactly
as you did anyway lol. Very common on those jeeps though, the parking brake
area was twice as dirty from axle lube on the one I did.

EaglEye219 says:

Yeah it’s a dumb design, but what do we know, we’re just dumb old techs,
after all the engineers aren’t the ones who have to do all the work fixin
it, they should get our measly paycheck and we should get theirs for having
to deal with their crap. Freakin Jeep Grand Cherokee, I own one and I swear
it’s the bane of my existence when it comes to dumb designs. I’ve had to
deal with these axle seals myself and they’re a pain, but that’s a clever
idea with the pipe, never would have thought to do that.

George Bonta says:

Is American and it must be good. LOL

Sergio Gonzalez says:

Hi Scotty, I also have a 1999 Grand Cherokee 4×4 that has a seal leak in
the front axle. Is that the same procedure for the front axle? thanks

Eric Brunhammer says:

Yeah, I at that point, I would just pull the axle shaft out, and take it to
one of my local shops and paid them a few bucks to press it on.

Mattgelso92 says:

Enjoyed the new video Scotty.. I know you’re a big Toyota fan but I’ve
always been meaning to ask you what is your opinion on a Lexus?? Just an
expensive Toyota?
