Alex Eddleston says:

What if your idler pullies don’t have one side exposed. How would you get
the bearings out then?

Montauk198 says:

I called my local auto parts and they only carry the pulley with bearing
already inside. I dont want to buy a plastic pulley and the metal ones are
too expensive.
Where did you order your bearings from?

BullsEyeRocker says:

Well in good ol USA a NEW idler pulley is $16 at Auto Zone made in USA and
you don’t have to bang out a bearing and you get a new pulley as well.

synthesizer301 says:

Thanks for the lesson ,it really is much cheaper this way and as good as new
cool video anyway : )

truckdriver919 says:

where can i buy this bearing this guy is talking about the 6203-2RSH/C3 I
live in Cassadaga ny. It seems those bearings are hard to find for my idler
asmbly can someone help ? I think they’re about $ 8.00

guyinaboat says:

Ok so little update today it was -8 first thing in the morning.. and I had
the winding noise for about 10 seconds… just to give you an idea of when
to try and pay attention to yours at that temp or colder

guyinaboat says:

no kidding what a small world lol… well today happens to be minus one I
didn’t hear the whine so I’m going to correct myself and say -3 or colder..
my city here isn’t too crazy what to me Niagara Falls Toronto in London are
nuts.. the traffic just drives me crazy driving through the citys… seems
we have the first snow today so looking forward to some 4×4 for a change if
it snows enough…

guyinaboat says:

St catharines is my city its about 15 mins from niagara falls Ont.
my truck is 2006 f150 fx4 crew cab…as far as the temp once it hits about
0 – that i get the whine sound but never for more than a min max ive had
this truck for almost 5 years now but only noticed the past couple winter
drained
the reservoir mid summer and changed fluid but still same sound come
winter…i have read that some other vehicles happen to change an inlet
oring or suction line oring i assume they were sucking air if that was the
case but i figure it would be a constant whine if that were the cause for a
steady sound…if i turn the wheel a bit in the direction that lessens the
whine it will stop if i neutral the wheel in that position…i guess it
could be worse and its been.the same for the past couple winters or so at
least its not pissing all over…i thought id throw it at ya to see if i
should be concerd seeing you basically have the same truck and with your
brutal sub temps i figure if yours isnt making that whine and mine is at a
warm -1 to -8 to you…then i know im gonna jave to tear into this B*%€ of
a pump guess ill leave it seeing it stops….
hey i wanna thank you again for your video and all the dealership ass
raping ive been able to avoid 😉
Cheers!

guyinaboat says:

Great information you have been sharing!
and i must say i love the straight to the point way you put things
lol…anyway i just recently had to do my bearings and found my 6203
bearings were about a 16th thicker than factorys and had to throw a few
washers under the tentioner but 6 bucks a piece i couldnt top that…;)
Anyhow another topic i wanted your opinion on power steering whine i have
just at freezing temp at first start till she gets pumping might last a
minute or so…then its gone untill the next morning…its an 06 f150fx4
194k kms
thanks in advance man!
ill continue learning from your great vids!

Bullshitkorner says:

could be possible that the tensioner is weak, but depending on how cold it
is when it chirps as well. here where the temps get really cold it’s not
uncommon to hear all sorts of nosies at -30

Jonathan Neal says:

When sometimes cold*

Timberlinetown says:

Just replaced my tensioner in my ’04 TJ about 3 months ago and that job was
soooo simple!! Same with the belt, but you know that from your video you
did on it…lol

Oscar's BMW & VW says:

Oh, ok. Sounds good. I will look at my pulleys and decide then.

coubs123 says:

Another good way to press the bearing in if u have a vice sit something on
the bearing u had and put between the jaws of the vice and slowly wind in
found to be a good technique

Bullshitkorner says:

nice is it good good stuff ?, will it make me pass out in the alley

Bullshitkorner says:

that’s a very good point as well

jchow80 says:

The stuff tastes like sweet nectar! At $7/can, it better make us feel a
little fucken tipsy!

Timberlinetown says:

The only “main” issue I have had is that little white plastic “ball” piece
that is down inside the shifter rod (auto shifter in the cab), broke on me.
Wouldn’t let me shift into Park or 1st gear. Simple fix by using a piece of
a plastic coat hanger and grinding it down a little. I have heard that
using chopsticks works as well. Then I dropped that piece down into the
shifter rod and pushed back on the handle. Worked like a charm and was a
free fix. This and the rear main engine seal…lol

Bullshitkorner says:

that’s a real good method and better for the bearing instead of pounding it
in place and risk damaging it

Jonathan Neal says:

Replaced my idler pulley twice in the past year also replaced my tensioner
pulley once also and replaced the belt on my 02 v6 explorer the mother
fucker still chirping when sometimes . I was thinking about replacing the
tensioner pulley again and buying a motor craft belt to see if it stops.
Been buying parts from advance auto parts maybe there parts are poor quality

FADEDCUBAN says:

AMAZING VID BRO

Oscar's BMW & VW says:

These idlers look just like the E46 ones. Do you have any info on the ones
for the BMW? I am undecided if I should just replace the little pulleys
with after market ones from the pelicanparts website or hold off and try
this cool bearing swap.

Bullshitkorner says:

im impressed, have you had any major issues with your jeep at all

jchow80 says:

I picked up a few cans of this imported Elderflower Swedish Pear cider
(Rekorderlig) from Sobeys. It’s really good, will bring over some to your
garage next time were out 🙂

Bullshitkorner says:

have a look at your pulleys and see if the surface is worn or not, if they
are still good then just replace the bearings. but getting aftermarket
pulley’s is a good idea as well

thearmysredneck says:

Actually if you’re replacing a bearing in the housing like this your not
going to damage it if you stay on the outer race. Where as if your going on
the shaft you need to stay on the inner race. There is a lot if misnomer
out there about proper ways to install a bearing. Btw I’ve been an
industrial A.C. and D.C. motor mechanic for over 6yrs and have an ISO Cat 1
Vibration Analysis Certification as well.
