in case of 1.8TDCI you don´t have to disassemble input of the air of the
mondeo at all. I did replacement of battery in my mondeo today, only thing
neccessary was unclicking the left and right side of back plastic cover of
the battery, by performing this you get required space to take out old and
place new battery, plus removal of connector for weight of the air. This
motorization seems likely to 2.5T, replacement procedure can differ with
each type of motorization based on composition of the air suction, motor
position…etc.

Its a shame that many simple procedures on the mk3 have been made
relatively complicated on the mk4 Mondeo, this is one example, the other is
replacement of headlight bulbs. At least they have moved the oil filter
from the bottom to the top of the engine, German style.
