Is it similar to the serpentine belt on the Ford EL Falcon? Thanks

FabuleuxFab88 says:

Ah ok thanks mate ! I’ll figure it out

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

You must be hailing from down under? Unfortunately we don’t have the newer
Falcons here in the states, I wish we did because those are neat cars! But
I am not familiar with them, so unfortunately I can’t answer your question
fully. After looking into it a bit though, it appears you folks have a 4.0L
Straight Six engine in the falcon, which will be different, the explorer in
this video is a V-6.

AS0C1AD0S says:

What happens if the belt is too tight??? Are they automatically a certain
adjusment due to the notches u indicated??

mrtwmccoy says:

i also have a 5.0 ,, how do you remove that dam belt !!!! 2000 explorer….

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

@mrtwmccoy Yeah the 5.0 is tougher, much less room in the engine bay to
work with. It should be very similar in overall procedure though. You
should have a sticker in the engine bay with a belt routing diagram and a
picture of how to turn the tensioner to loosen the belt.

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

at 1:08 you can see the issue, the tensioner was sticking. This can cause a
couple things, it can make a rattle/clatter noise as the tensioner moves
around, the big issue is that the belt was slipping. When the tensioner
won’t hold tight against the belt, the belt will slip and squeal and
possibly cause loss of power steering.

Steven Murphy says:

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It helped me fix my own
truck while also learning about what I was doing. You Tube should hand out
degrees. I learn way more on here than I did in college.

Nathan Stephens says:

Is this the same process as on 2001 ford explorer sport trac? thank you!

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

@AS0C1AD0S The belt tensioner is designed to apply just the right amount of
tension. So there isn’t any way for it to end up too tight.

karla acosta says:

I have a 1997 ford explorer 5.0 and its totally different..do you know how
to do that one?

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

The sport-trac belt replacement should be just about the same, this video
should be a good guide for your truck.

cotaman7 says:

Those tensiors have a habit of flying into pieces when the engine is
running when they get old and causing under hood damage. Should replace
every 75,000 miles per Ford.

AS0C1AD0S says:

@APDTY ok thank you for responding

Long Tran says:

Thanks for the great video. Just changed the tensioner and belt in under 30
minutes.

PantherSteven says:

Thanks for the video, very helpful but how do you know when the tensioner
has gone bad? What signals where present?
