saved my butt! Thanks
I like the detail you used which makes it easy to do. I will be changing
all 3 tomorrow
Thanks a lot man your a life saver!!!!!
Don’t use the factory jack or a hydraulic jack. Use jack stands or ramps.
The top two motor mounts support the weight of the engine. When either one
is removed you must support the engine from underneath with a jack of some
sort. The factory jack would work fine. The lower engine mount only keeps
the engine from twising forward and back, no weight is supported. When you
replace this one, you don’t need to support the engine at all. But this
mount can only be replaced from under the car. Use safe lifing techniques.
Great video.. I have a question? ?? Is necessary to put the stands or the
jack underneath every motor mount is replaced? ? Or it can be done without
using a Jack?
Good luck with the car. If you make the wife happy hopefully she’ll make
you happy.
just a my wife a 2008 focus & have to change the motor mount tomorrow. it
has terrible vibration any time the engine is running. hope I have as easy
of a task as you make it to be. Thanks for the help, I’ll get great results
@ home for this!
Great Video! This will help me with my 02 Focus. Looks about the same set
up. Just different motor.
Thanks – I am sure people greatly appreciated the time you took to actually
make a video of all this – I know I am. And as said before in a review-
sockets size for the mounts might have helped, for I am limited on
tools..haha. thanks again – helped me alot
I’m glad I was able to help you out. Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I take
my tool availability for granted, I’ll try to remember to include socket
sizes in my future videos. Thanks for the tip.
Question. How have the aftermarket mounts held up? A majority of reviews
are really bad on the aftermarket mounts — especially the torque strut/dog
bone mount.
Once installed they worked just like new. No vibrations or noises. I have
since sold the car but it worked great when I sold it.
Alex I have a 2003 ford focus wagon mine vibrates but only in reverse with
foot on brake pedal
Thanks man! Helped me a lot!
Thanks I found it if vibrating proceeds what do think might be the problem?
2002.
Good job, my honda integra 1992 vibrates, i,ll go check the motor mounts
Thanks Alex
Glad these videos are helping out. I learn a lot by watching other people’s
videos so I try to make mine just as helpful. Best of luck with you
girlfriend’s carl. Let me know if you run into any issues.
very good video….good job ;))
My Focus is a 2002 model. I no longer have the boxes so I can’t give you
the part numbers. The aftermarket part numbers can be found on Advance Auto
Parts’ website.
You should be able to find it by searching for engine mount or maybe torque
rod or torque mount.
Great video, what year is your focus? And could you post part numbers?
Check all the motor mounts. Each one can cause a vibration. If they are all
good, has any motor work been done recently? A good running engine
supported by good mounts will not vibrate. Check if it’s running on all
cylinders. Check exhaust condition. Make sure the engine is timed correctly.
excellent video thanks
what year is the car?
Whats the name of the bottom mount?
Ok I think it’s the torque rod I’ll check the timing if that’s not it, I
bought the car off of craigslist so I’m not sure if any engine work has
been done… thanks for all your help I went from being completely ignorant
to changing motor mounts in a day! If you have time can you make a video on
how to safely jack up a car and set it on stands you’re such a good teacher
people will think it’s nothing to it and my mind would be at ease if people
who watch your videos also knew how to be safe.
It would have been helpful to know what size sockets you used!! But this
vid was helpful thank you
thank you so much for this video! trying to do things on my own instead of
paying people to do it and you are helping alot! thanks
Thanks for posting
Great stuff. You make very good, very logical videos with excellent
instruction. I’ll be doing the timing belt/potentially cylinder head on my
girlfriend’s Focus (SPI) soon here and your vids have been helpful beyond
compare. Thanks for the effort!
That’s not a bad idea. I’ll put that on my list.
Thanks for everything sorry I wrote a book.
