Loved the video, strait forward and easy to follow. Thanks!

in my case my idle issues were NOT caused by thre fuel filter, most
likel.y the idle issue you are having is due to plugs and wires or you have
some type of intake leak. if it was an intake leak the engine would have a
rolling idle or be shuddery quite often, when plugs and wires start to get
old you have intermittent idle fluctuations and lack of power. dont just
change the plugs though, the WIRES have as much to do with how well your
truck will run then the plugs.

Manuel Orozco says:

Would changing a feul filter help with weird idle issues? I have a 4.0
which runs great, but on idle it will sit just sits right around 1000rpm,
but every now and then drops a couple. Almost feels like its borderline to
stalling (auto not manual). Im planning on changing spark plugs, cleaning
throttle body, new fuel filter, and having the tranny flushed. Any other
suggestions?

part 2 I didn’t take either filter, I have been looking on sites that sell
parts and they are pulling up that bigger filter! Now I am not sure which
filter I need, the NAPA guy said if it has the wrong filter it will run
bad. alldatadyi website calls for YF1Z9155BA Motorcraft part, (2001 – 03
gas motor) which if you look it up online, is the bigger filter. No bracket
with that one, not sure it’ll fit in the bracket that is on there… If
yours is gas, are you having any issues with idle?

AsTheWheelsTurn says:

hey sorry I didnt see you had commented here. to answer your question yes I
had idle issues but it wasn’t from the fuel filter. I know this was the
correct one for my truck because I bought the truck new and this was the on
it from the factory. I did figure out the rough idle though and it was
pretty simple in my case.I needed new plugs and wires, and i needed to
tighten the main air hose going from the airbox to engine.runs perfectly
now. 200,000 miles and idles/runs perfectly.

777JSOB says:

Do have a flex fuel or gas 3.0? The reason I ask is because I have a 2003
XL Ranger with the 3.0, a couple years ago when I bought it, it had a
filter like the 2nd one you bought. I went to O’Reilly’s and that is what
they gave me. Lately I’ve been having rough idle issues, so one of the
things I want to so before taking it to a shop is change the filter again.
Went to NAPA and they wanted to sell me the fatter filter, they said the
smaller filter is for flex fuel.

AsTheWheelsTurn says:

no mine is not flex fuel. just the 2002 3.0 v6 gasoline

AsTheWheelsTurn says:

also, on my truck you CANT put the wrong one on. it just simply wont hook
up. the smaller one is for the 4 bangers I am pretty sure and the lines are
a different size you cant go wrong.
