Skip it to the removal lol. It’s a hard job. The driver side took me a long
time. A friend helped me pull the other side while I worked on the clamps
with the removal tools.

I had an Alpine CD player installed in my 1997 Mercury Tracer about 10
years ago so I had to get the radio installation kit with all the air and
heat controls on it. Will this weekend I replace the CD player with another
head unit. I was able to get the whole unit out using the tools in your
video with no problem but when I put it back in I can’t get the unit to
lock back in completely. The bottom wants to slide out a little. I don’t
understand why it won’t lock back in place.

no you can buy a kit that fits it, it is a little more pricey, but does
come with everything you need no cutting required

for those…yet…

Hi there, I have a 2002 Ford Taurus and I want to add a AUX input for my
MP3 player. I do not use the CD player. I read that there is an adapter
called PIE XM6-FRDR for 95 -05 Ford Taurus. Something about the connections
being in the trunk not the stereo itself. Does anyone know what I am
talking about? I’m looking for some more info before I buy this stuff.

DONT MAKE IT OUT OF COAT HANGARS!!! some people have luck with it but
personally i fucked around with mine for 2 hours before giving up and
buying the DIN at walmart for 5$ and then i had the radio out in less than
6 mins dont be cheap just buy the right tool

For me, the DIN tools would not grab enough to pull the radio out. So,
while applying pressure on one tool, I reached under the glove compartment
to push the radio out from behind. It came out easily. Once I saw the
springs on the side of the radio it was clear how the DIN tool is supposed
to work.

Nice video … then again did that (at least I tried to do it) before
watching your video and it comes out on the right side about 1.5 inches
while the left side only .5 inch. What on earth is holding that thing in???
I want to remove a stuck CD. I unplugged the battery so not to cause a
shock/mess with the AC system (I’m told they are connected somehow) Can the
same type disc player that goes in computers be used/must it be a type
designed for cars only? Thanks!

Hey, Ive got a 2000 ford taurus and have been trying to get the stock radio
out. I’ve done it with a few cars in the past, but never had this big of
problem. No matter what I do, only the right side comes out. There are no
clicks on left as I enter the tool. I’ve tried running my hand behind the
dash to help push it out, but I really don’t want to force it. Any advice?

The drivers side is the side that is the hardest to get to come out. I have
taken out my radio numerous times and probably 3 or 4 different cars’
radios from the junk yard. It’s always the drivers side that gives the
problem. I tried for an hour and a half to get my radio out, but had to
break the drivers side clip to get the radio to come out. I went to the
junk yard and got clips the other radios. I changed my tape player to a cd
player.

Walmart and Radio Shack and neither place had this item. If I know what it

Thanks for sharing the info. I need to access the blend door actuator which
is behind the radio and ackward to reach from the sides. It is shown in the
background (white). Only thing you could have done plus—would be to have
shown the sides of the radio to show all what the retainers looked like.

It is possible. You use the same dash kit, but you buy knob a/c controls
and convert it to knobs. The button a/c controls are part of the factory
radio. It really not much more difficult.
