We currently do not have an video on the inner. This video will help you
get the tie rod end removed. You should be able to remove the inner one
fairly easily once you get the end removed. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
great video i have the same make and model here how do i go about changing
the inner assuming all steps up to the putting new outter on but how di i
get the inner off
You should be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to
your application. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Is this the same procedure for an 02 expedition? Ford chassis all look the
same and mine look similar to the explorer
Very nicely done, exactly what I needed to replace a broken tie rod. Thanks
much. RMc
@sancho1966 You’re quite welcome. Have a great day!
@wjo1972 The loud popping you are reffering too was it torq wrench.. He has
it set to 75 pounds.. when he hit 75 pounds the wrench pops to let him know
he has the correct torq on the nut
If the tires keeps bouncing up and down after hitting a bump, it’s usually
the sign of a bad shock.
My 2000 Explorer XLS makes a knocking sound from the front end when I hit a
bump with either of my tires, but when I hit the bump with both of my tires
simultaneously, the knocking does not occur. Would you think that this
would be attributed to loose tie rods? Both sides make the noise. I also
have heard that it could be a sway bar issue but I’ve checked my sway bar
and it seems to be working in order. some have also said it could be my
ball joints but they are new. Anyhelp would be appreciated
@probegt75 I’m glad we could help out.Thank you for watching.
@rangerfx42002 You are very correct I shot this when I was doing the brakes
and forgot to take that footage out of the video.
Is this the same process for a 2004 explorer and should both sides be done
at the same time like brakes?
@wjo1972 Tightening the grease fitting will not make a popping sound. He
might have tapped the spindle with the pliers in the scene you were
watching.
how do you take off the other side? ive got a 2004 ford ranger and ive been
told that the other one is bent and not the one your replacing isent it.
how do i take it off?
how do you know when this needs to be replaced? im pretty sure mine does,
just wondering though.
@LeoKRT908 Just changing the bad side is fine but it would not hurt to
change both, that way you can get it aligned once and be done with it.
Awesome thanks for making this video!
If it’s 4WD you may want to check the front axles, and also the steering
linkage. If the sway bar links are worn, they may cause a clunk and also a
shake in the steering wheel at highway speeds. Hope this helps you out.
hey do you ecomend to change both sides or with the one wornout will be ok
great video thanks for sharing. you make it look so easy…i’m out in a
driveway with a floor jack…lol.
do you have a lift in your home garadge and thats cool if you do
Usually they become loose and easy to move back and forth by hand.
@Razzie24 If you mean the Driver side, the procedure is the same.
Awesome, thanks Mike Green
I have the exact same car as in the video…same color and everything.
after evertime i have jacked both front wheels off the ground(even just to
change a tire no suspension work) and lover it back down, if i hit a bump
or a pothole the wheel that hit the pot hole will bounce and keep bouncing
really bad for a minute then stop. it will do this a couple times then it
doesn’t do it anymore. unless i lift it back up again. shocks are new and
the two shops i took it to said ball joints and rods r ok
It is the same process for the 2004 Ford Explorer. If the other side has
the same age on it as the side that’s bad, it wouldn’t hurt to replace it
with a new part.
When you put the grease fitting on and tighten it, what exactly happens
when that loud popping sound happens (9:08 on the video)? My tie rod end
came with the grease fitting already in it, and when I made sure it was
good and tight, I didn’t get any popping sounds like that. I just want to
make sure I didn’t miss an important step. Thanks in advance for any help
you can offer. Thank You!!
