Nicely done video. Appreciated the tool list, made my repair short and
sweet this morning.

David Lemaster says:

what about a 1994 ford ranger, I took off both panels, but can’t locate
ignition switch

1A Auto Parts says:

There is not. You need the rod to push out for it to start.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may have to trace the wiring to see if there’s a wire touching a piece
of metal somewhere or that could be possibly corroded causing it to short
out.

06mrrayray says:

Do y’all have a video on how to replace ignition lock

1A Auto Parts says:

For the 1993 it might be similar. Unfortunately we do not have that model
year around to check it out so it might require you to remove the steering
wheel so you can pull it out.

1A Auto Parts says:

The switch is going to be located right behind the key cylinder.

krborders says:

Brice McCaleb says:

I am bypassing my ignition switch in my 1995 Mazda B4000. Because the
plastic rod inside my steering column broke and I can’t shut it down
without pulling the fuse. My question is, on my switch, which wire is
which. Google is no help.

1A Auto Parts says:

It may be worn out.

L Hank says:

I have a 1995 Ford Victoria Police Interceptor. I believe the Ignition
Actuator Rod needs replaced. I have replaced the Ignition Switch, Ignition
Lock Cylinder and the Ignition Relay Switch. My question is, is there a way
to bypass the Actuator Rod and get the car to crank? Thanks!

TheMcfooly says:

@1aauto thanks i already replaced it. this video was helpful it was just a
little different i had to drop the steering wheel but it was still quick
and easy repair ,thanks again this video gave me the confidence to do it my
self

1A Auto Parts says:

If you have a service manual for the vehicle, there should be a wire
schematic in there for you. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1A Auto Parts says:

1A Auto Parts says:

90-96 Ford Ranger. youtube.com/watch?v=PWGrv0hba08&feature=plcp

BlacknRedTed says:

Can you guys tell me if this is close to the same set up for a 1998 Ford
Explorer XLT model ? If so, I can do this myself and save alot of money.

johnee blaize says:

how do you replace the ignition switch connector(re-wire and replace) on a
1994 crown victoria

dannyboyatki says:

Hi , would replacing this switch maybe help a problem I have where the
radio/clock stays on even when the key is removed sometimes.

justin d says:

How do you know if your switch is bad i have a 2002 ford ranger 2.3 4 cyl
and it will start fine but ever once and a wile it woint start at all and
if you wiggle the switch a little bit it will start i put a brand new
battery on. Thanks

Adrian Colston says:

hello i have a 95 ford explorer is this the same switch for it as well

dpl1108121 says:

is that the same thing as a ignition module?

Kevin Ramos says:

Is the ignition switch on a 2006 Ford Ranger in the same location?

1A Auto Parts says:

Yes this is the same switch that is used on the 1998 Ford Explorer. We
carry them on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 Part Number: 1AZIS00008

1A Auto Parts says:

@dpl1108121 We’ll keep this in mind if we need to make this repair in the
future. They usually aren’t to hard to fix. A Haynes or Chiltons manual
should show you how to make this repair and where it’s located on your
vehicle. We sell the Haynes manuals on our website 1aauto.com

Blake Scott says:

is the ignition switch on a 93 ford ranger in the same place? Does it have
a cover over it as well? Do you by chance have a picture?

1A Auto Parts says:

It sounds like something in the switch may be worn or loose, which could
cause the vehicle not to start until you wiggle the part and those pieces
make contact again.

1A Auto Parts says:

There could be a draw or an issue with the radio itself too. You may want
to look at it.

krborders says:

Is it pretty much the same as the ford ranger

1A Auto Parts says:

This video will show you how to replace the switch (not rewire) but replace
it. 1aauto.com/1A/IgnitionSwitch/Ford/CrownVictoria/1AZIS00008/486013/1994

MeaghanLovesDestery says:

I have an 96 madza b2300. i pulled the key out of the ignition an the
steering wheel did not lock and the engine did not shut off. would
replacing the ignition switch be my solution?

justin d says:

i replaced the starter switch bought a new battery and it still woint start
it will start 90 percent of the time but when it woint start all you got 2
do is hit the steering coluim and it will start right up i took it to a
lock smith and he said it could be a bad antenna he made me a brand new
transponder key

1A Auto Parts says:

@TheMcfooly Can’t remember doing one on a 91 Explorer but I would not be
surprised if it was a very similar process.

1A Auto Parts says:

@dpl1108121 This is the ignition switch. The ignition module should be
located on or around the distributor.

Narc0SkiiLzZ says:

thanks for your help im going to try this then and ill tell you if it worked

1A Auto Parts says:

It sounds like there could possibly a frayed wire in the column. If the
truck starts when you hit the column, there could be a loose or frayed wire
in there.

1A Auto Parts says:

@MrDuccimane We currently do not have an auto repair video on that
particular repair for that vehicle. A Chiltons or a Haynes manual should
also show you how to remove it. We sell the Haynes manuals on our website.
Here’s a link to them. Hope this helps you out.

TheMcfooly says:

is a 1991 ford explorer the same

dpl1108121 says:

@1aauto if you could do a video on where that is located on the ranger!
That would help me out big time.. also is it hard to fix that?
