My F-150 2002 Truck has a misfire on coil #8. I would love to fix it myself, cause I do not have mechanic money. Is there a book and/or video for that?

I got it on with ease!! Thank you very much. All it took was a 7mm socket and a plug.

1aauto says:

We currently do not have a video on this particular repair. Yes that’s basically all you should have to do.

I have a 1996 Ford Thunderbird with a 4.6 V8 and I need to replace a coil. They are right on top in the front so they’re really easy to reach. Any specifics I need to know about? Looks to me like you just unhook the wires take the bolts out and replace the coil and put the wires back on? Sorry to sound stupid but I am a musician not a mechanic…

ateras360 says:

I don’t know alot about a car but you may want to check on a crank shaft censor. That sounds just what mine did and that took care of it. Unless of course you already got it repaired. I noticed this piost is a few months old so I hope you did.

for a test drive. He said its a really bad misfire. He said my plug wires were buldged and suggested replacing them and the plugs first. Could this be the problem? I didnt ever consider that a misfire could shake the whole truck. Do you think the ignition coil could be more of the problem? I am getting very poor gas milage and I do get a back fire if I really have to hit the gas to get up a steep hill. Could I get your opinion?

NiceGuy4Fun says:

I just baught a 79 f150 4.6 with 300,000 miles on it for $1500. (not sure if its original motor) It has had a very noticable vibration in it. First garag I took it to said u-joints were bad as the vibration went away when letting off the gas. Well needless to say that wasnt it. The next garage said my tie rod ends were bad and the tires were causing the problem. Needless to say that wasnt the problem. i didnt think it was anyways. The third garage I went to the mechanic actually took the truck

txdurk says:

I’m glad to see a mechanic struggle with the air cleaner strap. It gives me a problem every time.

1aauto says:

You may want to make sure that it’s getting fuel and spark to the motor.

Phil Happy says:

It didn’t… unless it was that soaked. We’re stumped, changed the coil, dried the plugs, no avail. Still won’t spark up and start all the way. Its turns over and over and over, just won’t start up all the way. Any ideas?

1aauto says:

You try to, to see if it works for you.

Phil Happy says:

My ranger sprung a leak the other day by the EDIS, now my truck won’t start, it turns just fine; wondering if it might be worthwhile to take mine apart to maybe let it air dry?

Colleen Barry says:

Your how to videos hae been very helpful. detailed and professional

1aauto says:

It probably wouldn’t hurt to change the cap, wires and rotor if it has them. If any of these are worn or arching out it would make the car run rough.

Anon Amous says:

My Chrysler Pacifica has been misfiring for a while now, the other day my mechanic changed the spark plugs and not the coils and it is still misfiring. Did I get ripped off or is it still ok? (I hadn’t changed the plugs in about 3 years)
