Thanks this helped a lot with my 79 Continental old alternator couldn't keep up with heater and headlights
Hello, I just bought the same alternator as you but I do not have the female plug. Do you mind explaining to me which one is the field and which one is the stator please?
i gota replace the wire harness for mine. i think it all unplugs. the previous owner before "CUT" the ends off. who knows why
This is the 2nd video in a 3 part series on removing, installing, and testing and alternator. Part 1 can be found here: https://youtu.be/hNJl9KZJOgU
If you're up for it, you can pull your old one out, and take it into your local auto parts store. That way, they can match it up exactly for the plug you have and you'd be all set. Note: sometimes they need to swap the pulley from your old alternator core, and put it on your new one. Be sure to ask about that if you're planning on doing it yourself. (Dual pulley vs. Single pulley). If it does need swapped, they can do it quickly for you with an air wrench.
Okay. There's at least 3 different alternators you can get: 60, 65, or 70 amps. The one in the video is a 70 amp for my 400M 6.6L. I got it from O'rielly Auto Parts for about $85.
my alternator went out yesterday and i called dans auto electric, he said he could install a 3g alternator and the wiring for $150
yes it has the voltage regulator but not that type of plug. I have an 81 bronco 351m
That plug is stock, but the alternator is not. Let me explain: This Bronco has a voltage regulator mounted to the upper left part of the fender wall (passenger side). That regulator contains the plug you speak of. Quick question: Does yours have the same external regulator?
is that a stock wire plug with the horsonal and vertical part? if its not stock then how did you set that up?
