Hello, i had a question, today i bought a water pump for my Mustang at the Ford parts counter,i asked for a Motorcraft PW 470 and they gave me a box, when i walked out i noticed the box said PW 423,when i went back to clear things out i was told that the 423 supersedes the 470, well once i got things home i realized that they are slightly different and the difference is in the snout, basically the 423 is a truck pump and it has threads on the snout for the fan clutch (shown in this video) while the 470 doesn't because Mustangs have a electric fan, could it work? i mean my pulley fits perfectly and its a dead match except for those funny threads past where the pulley sits, the threads wouldn't be in my way, I'm guessing this was done to simplify having one pump fits all? thank you much for any input

What's the wrench size of the nut that holds the fan or fan clutch? The big nut?

The procedure after removing the intake would work on the 4.6L 2V for an Explorer, Thunderbird, Crown Vic or Mustang too. The factory waterpumps (in my experience) last a very long time.

Do you recall how many bolts were holding on the actual water pump? I've got a 97' F-150 with the 4.6 and tried to take mine off exactly how you explained it. I unbolted 5 long bolts from the water pump and it won't brake free. I tapped it a few good times but man…. it won't budge. Are there more bolts holding? Do I need to unbolt part of the alternator? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks!
