michael applin says:

this is such a good video, helped me out alot, thanks man 🙂

ahmaddinejungilvez says:

Thanks for the video however one note, my 2002 Ford Explorer 4.0 SOHC
required a 13 metric vs. the 5/8.

wwvette says:

WELL HERE WE GO AGAIN! I’LL TRY AND SAY THIS NICELY! LOOK UP ON (YOUTUBE),
“MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC OIL MYTHS”, AND DO NOT E-MAIL BACK, UNLESS YOU ARE GOING
TO APOLOGIZE!!!

boxwoodgreen says:

We’re not short, we’re “concentrated”.

Abraham Kabore says:

very nice.. can you tell me which oil filter and air filter i should get?

Patches McSkips says:

This is interesting, in my 02 Explorer I only had to unscrew my filter and
then I was able to screw the new one in with no problems. I didn’t need the
tool that you showed me. Is your tool optional or is it mandatory?

wwvette says:

WHY ARE YOU E-MAILIMG ME? DO’NT YOU WANT THE PEOPLE TO READ THIS POINTS OF
VIEW? I DO! YOU MUST LOOK AT YOUR VIDEO! I’M TALKING ABOUT COMENT’S LIKE
YOU CA’NT CHANGE FROM REG. OIL TO SYNTHETIC, ECT.! AND I DO TAKE BACK THE
S. O. B., VERY INAPPROPRIATE THING TO SAY, SORRY.

centralhousing says:

Thank you so much for this video my friend!…You are an excellent
communicator, by which, makes your instructions much easier to interpret.

WOMBTIDE says:

Very good, thank you. If you could move the camera down a little so we can
see the complete job that would be a a lot better. You used synthetic oil,
is it 5W-30 or 5W-40?

vasquezche666 says:

Thanks alot man! Just did my first oil change! The vid helped out alot

Jason Semko says:

Could you please add all the items needed in the description? I don’t have
any of the tools you’ve mentioned and would love to have a small ‘shopping
list’. Thanks!

Honda ST says:

thank you for the step-by-step, helped me change my oil for the first time

TheyMightBeRacing says:

@WOMBTIDE I’ll keep that in mind for the future. I’m afraid I’m more of a
mechanic than a Mr. DeMille, so I’m spending a lot of time learning how
best to film this sort of stuff, particularly when it comes to tight spaces.

statikk666 says:

Great video and good advice about checking afterwards. Thanks!

speedmagnet24 says:

@lilabE get the cheapest ones trust me you wont need any more for your suv

TheyMightBeRacing says:

@speedmagnet24 I live in Arizona. We don’t have rust here. With good care
this car will last until my kids thoroughly trash the interior. 🙂 Also, if
you’re a Costco member, they have a coupon every ~6 months on that oil. On
sale it’s only about a dollar to a dollar fifty more expensive than a
decent non-synthetic oil.

speedmagnet24 says:

complete waste of money on the oil for that car. nice video . your engine
will outlast the frame now

TheyMightBeRacing says:

Ok. 1) I was being polite, you were the one calling me an “ignorant
S.O.B.”. 2) these are comments on my public video, not personal emails. 3)
My recommendations (the whopping 3 of them) were about the economics of
buying oil, and stated nothing about the actual properties of the oil. In
simplest terms, there’s no reason to spend a lot of money on Synthetic oil
when a car has run conventional oil for it’s entire life or more
importantly burns oil. Finally product marketing != truth.

TheyMightBeRacing says:

@ahmaddinejungilvez That’s interesting. The cologne V6 is made in Germany
and in the U.S. I wonder if yours is one of the German ones. Or it might be
a difference between the normal and the Flex Fuel.

TheyMightBeRacing says:

I’m afraid you’re dead wrong. I would strongly recommend that you google
“Bob is the oil guy” and read the articles in their “Motor Oil University”
series.

Edgar Pantojas says:

i think he forgot to mention check the dip stick see if oil level is good
oil has to run though some motor part and settle so u might want to check
the dip stick

Trey Mims says:

nice…changing oil tonite

TheyMightBeRacing says:

Keep the language civil or I will start deleting posts/blocking people.

MasterIronfist says:

wow buddy you are a moron! plus the all caps thing makes you look even more
douchey!! GTFO!

MasterIronfist says:

Stop the all Caps crap you asshole!

John Varga says:

My only comment on this would be that if you have an oil filter that is
vertical like it appears yours is, it might be a good idea to partially
fill the oil filter to about 3/4 full and then put it on. I do that with my
2004 Corolla and you don’t end up waiting for the filter to fill while the
engine is running without oil pressure. Not really sure it really makes a
difference but it makes me feel better about it.

Essendi Gadsby says:

i use fram oil filter from autozone i like using castrol gtx motor oil

WOMBTIDE says:

Thanks for the response. I understand completely. Take care.

Geoffrey Halterman says:

Great video. Thank you for explaining the process in a easy to follow step
by step process!

wwvette says:

YOU IGNORANT S.O.B., DO NOT TRY TO EDUCATE PEOPLE ABOUT OIL WHEN YOU HAVE
NO CLUE ON THIS SUBJECT! SO LET’S EDUCATE YOU AND THE PEOPLE YOU LIED TO!
MOTOR OIL IS MADE WITH THE BASIC INGREDIENT BEING MINERAL OIL! SYNTHETIC
MOTOR OIL START’S WITH THE BASIC MINERAL OIL WITH SYNTHETIC ADDITIVES
ADDED. YOU CAN USE EITHER TYPES OF OIL, MIX THE TWO, CHANGE FROM REGULAR
MOTOR OIL TO SYNTHETIC OR THE OTHER WAY SYNTHETIC TO REG. OIL WITH NO
ADVERSE AFFECT’S FROM EITHER OIL’S!! SO USE EITHER, OR MIX THE TWO

TheyMightBeRacing says:

I’m assuming you are referring to the oil filter wrench. It is very common
to need one when removing an oil filter. If yours came off by hand only you
are either extraordinarily strong or the filter wasn’t put on tight enough.
Generally when I find a loose filter it wasn’t put on tightly or it’s
vibrated loose.

Ivan Sanchez says:

Very Helpful, well explained, thank you.
