Nice video… I’m going to utilize this. Got a question for you… Have you
ever seen where a bad injector will cause your dashboard Oil pressure gauge
to read 0? It still runs but or skips at times badly…

Marcos Rodriguez says:

Hi I’m just like to ask you I have a 1992 with 7.3 but now the problem is
don’t starte after my mecanic did a work on the starte now crancks but

Awesome video thnx

Jason Radcliff says:

i meant to say the valve cover gasket plug work loose not glow plug.

Jason Radcliff says:

I had the plug work loose from inside the cover and the way i could tell
which bank was not hitting on the cylinder was to take a spray bottle of
water and mist the exhaust manifold each individually. if it steamed off
right away then you know that cylinder was firing. this saves time and
effort if it is the drivers side not firing you would have to pull turbo
pipes off.

Just wandering…. My truck is missing on the passenger side I changed the
fuel filter and forgot to let the filter fill back up by turning the key
over a couple of times….. could this cause hydrolock?

David Hoover says:

Thanks for the info. // Looks like you have a hole in your oil cap. that
cant be good.

Curtis Young says:

hey, nice video a 2001 ford 7.3L. if you dont take out the plugs when
changing the injector and you hydrolock the engine how can you unlock it.

Austin Close says:

Informative video. Never done injectors before. I’m about to order some
stage 1s, R&R seems pretty straight forward. Thanks for the knowledge!

Begbucks says:

You have a very professional service video. But when tuning over to flush
the injector holes, etc., why not just unplug the glow plug/injector
harness (the one in your valve covers) from the main wiring harness in the
truck to kill starting possibility ~ mess notwithstanding lol ~ tapping the
ignition key to turn over the engine for you?.

Art Oliva says:

man you are a great camera man

MrHarv18 says:

So you put the new injectors in, and then turn the crank left and right 4
or five revolutions? Ive gotta do mine and I really wanna get my ducks in a
row before hand.

1159 Videos says:

Ha ha no its a hole but its just the cover to the oil cap so it does not
really all the way through

1159 Videos says:

there is also a plug in the back of the head that helps drain the heads
into the oil pan,the glow plugs out will only push the fluid up but not
really out unless you turn the motor over w the starter which can make a
big mess if you dont sit a towel over the head. I do it by hand then
lightly w the starter until im sure it turns over easily

1159 Videos says:

No if you take the glow plug out the diesel in the cylinder will go into
the fuel, but if you have one or two really full and your changing the oil
anyways then you can just take the glow plug out but you still will have to
turn it over by hand . if you take it out and turn it over by key it will
blow it all over the place and make a big mess. Sometimes when i get to
where it wont go i simply turn it back some and keep trying, and the
injector bolt i just snug good its a in pound bolt

Ha shooting How to is hard ,trying to show exactly what to look for and
stay out of the shot is tuff, and this was hand shot not how id like to do
it but cant exactly lock the shots under a hood for everything or a video
would take forever. I do a lot of filming and im the live camera guy at a
racetrack so different for How to videos. I had a second camera guy from
full sail film me doing the how to and it was worse go figure lol nice ford
truck

jmcrunch32 says:

Seen your video n have a question for u I just replaced my glow plugs n put
everything back together n now it won’t start what can I do I took
everything apart n made sure I wasn’t missing anything checked fuses an
they were fine thanks and hope you can help me out

steve lobs says:

just a little scared to do it my self incase i screw it up so i probley
would send it to a mechanic to install. thanks for the help!

1159 Videos says:

also see how much they will charge you to do the nozzles a lot of times i
get injectors in the mail build them and send them back ready to install ,
you can pm me if you get to that point

chavamo says:

So what was the test you do to check if the injectors are working right?

steve lobs says:

i have a 7.3 96 and i want to put in some high performance injectors in.
should i do the nozzles or would it be too much for the stock injector? or
should i put lil swamps on it? the nozzles are cheaper but if it will hurt
the stock injectors i won’t. if i do any of these will i be blowing heavy
black smoke?

1159 Videos says:

Well check and make sure the glow plugs are getting power there is a
solenoid by the fuel bowl and make sure you didn’t unplug the plug going to
the valve cover, these trucks don’t like to start if no power to the
solenoid no glow plug power = no start

Greg Sarcinello says:

do i leave glow plugs out while i hand crank engine? and once engine is
hand cranked a few times i can go ahead and try to start it correct?

Chris Norris says:

Please pm me

steve lobs says:

asking because its $85 an hour for a mechanic to do it. if it would take
him more than 10 hours i probley wouldn’t do it then. would it take less
time if i just bought lil swamps? or do u think it is really worth it the
money? i have already done exhaust, air intake, chip, and gauges and i will
do an ats turbine housing and torque converter next.

1159 Videos says:

well there is two parts of this, one is actually taking apart your injector
and then cleaning and then putting the new nozzles in which can take some
time, now then there is actually changing the injector and i can do it in a
couple hours per side but not everyone is that fast. And if you already
have mods done then bigger nozzles will make a difference, see right now
you can add all you want but you are still stuck with stock holes same as
changing jets in a carb, more work to motor bigger jets

Chris Norris says:

How to get a stuck stem out of a 7.3 power stroke without think the head off

1159 Videos says:

Yes you have to turn it over at least that many times sometimes more and
still go to crank it as easy as you can , when the injectors come out all
the fuel and oil in the rails go straight into the cylinder

Kevin Rogers says:

was that a hole in your oil fill cap? or am i that stoned?

MrFlirtnwdisaster says:

A couple of things I noticed, 1, Why all the trouble turning the engine to
remove liquid from cylinders. All you have to do is remove the plugs as
shown and it will drain the oil back into the pan. Pull the drain plugs on
the front drivers side and rear pass side and drain the fuel. Absolutely no
danger in hydroing one of the cyl.
