to relieve pressure push in on shrader valve used to test fuel pressure on
return after fuel pressure regulator. and you dont have to turn ignition on
and off 3 times in order to build up pressure, just turn on ignition wait
till fuel pump stops humming( usually 3 to 7 seconds) then start engine.

WHAT happens if you break one of the clips that holds the line. i was
changing my filter, and broke the little orange clip as well as part of the
line, the end under the orange clip. will it still work? anyone?

@rbrittne Good point, the fuel filter is on the frame of the truck
underneath it and also on the inside of the frame so you have to be under
the truck to see it. Find the fuel tank and then look on the frame between
it and the transmission and it should be easy to find. Gosh maybe I should
do more truck repair videos, I kind of wished I had made fuel pump
replacement one now.

whats up bro i just changed my fuel pump on my 2003 ford ranger just to let
you know its way easier to pop off the back of the truck, just take out your
bed liner and there is 6 bolts to take off and your brake lights you need
to unplug…..theirs not alot of slake on the pump lines from the bottom
but from the top its easy to get to…i just went straight up with mine and
put it on some blocks hope this helps

over time you might be having a fuel leak. because the line is not snap on
to the filter. If you don’t smell or don’t see no leaks, then you might be
driving while it was leaking.

Hey man good videonHow the heck did you remove those clips while holding
the camera? anyway,,,thanks for the info. i have to change my filter….the
only thing you left out is where on the truck is it??? i have a 2005 ranger

Your missing some hair follicles up top.

GETTHEDEUCE says:

He didn’t need to relieve the pressure because the fuel pump is faulty so
not under pressure. To relieve pressure take fuel pump fuse out & run
engine until it stalls. At the end he didn’t need to crank the engine 3
times, just turn ignition on & off 3 times.

Hello there, So…I own a 2005 Ranger, and need to change the fuel filter.
Can you tell me what the specific tools are that I need to change it? I
went to my local O’Reilly and asked them what I needed, and they told me to
just undo the clips holding the filter to the lines. The problem is, the
lines don’t have clips holding them to the filter. So…I feel kinda SOL.
Any help you can give me would be awesome. Thanks!

Good Video Bro,, you just helped me out like crazy!!!!!!

Dave Nunez says:

did you do anything to relieve the fuel pressure?

mkplfyc says:

did you try pressing the fuel pump relay button ?

Greg K says:

I used the tool to remove one hose. The other two did not give me enough
room to slip the tool into. I had a look at the the hose that was off and
pushed on the colored tab and could see the catch slide over. So I pushed
on the colored tabs on the other ones and slid them right off. Wasted my
money on the tools. Oh well. On my 3.0 I pushed on the schlader valve and
it released the pressure instantly. Watch your eyes the gas squirts all
over for a second. Very little gas came from filter.
