Hand tight had always worked for me:)
after all the ‘old’ drains, I like to pour fresh new oil and let it drain
as well .. maybe a quart or so , helps wash all the old out
Nice Truck.
I usually do. I didn’t have to this time because I spilled oil on it while
filling the filter up and forgot to mention it on the video. Good tip!
Poke a hole in the bottom of the filter next time! I do that on my 2000 7.3
Excursion, you avoid a hot oil soak!
the seal kit is on the SS website
It’s a 97 which was the transition year from the old box style (mine) to
the newer look. To get correct parts I sometimes have to say it’s a 96
because they only recognize the newer style in 97 even though my VIN says
it’s a 97. The 03 was the last year of the 7.3 wasn’t it?
Thanks! She has 180k on it gets 20mpg and has never let me down.
That would be a good one. When I need to do that I’ll make sure to bring my
camera.
When I learned the poking a hole in the filter…. unbelievable difference.
Don’t you put some oil on the o- ring on the filter?
how bout a video on repacking wheel bearing on the Deuce ?
Nice truck.
They made 7.3’s until midyear 2003
I’ve know more than one person who’s had their drain pan/plug stripped by a
quick change oil place. They also use the cheapest filters they can get.
It’s due for one so that’s on the docket and should be up in a few months.
Actually, all the fluids are due and/or have never been changed so that’ll
be a long term series of changing all the deuce fluids.
how about a oil change on the duece
i don’t trust places like jiffy lube. one time my dad took his jeep there
for an oil change and the next time he changed the oil himself the oil
filter was stuck. they had tightened it so hard he had to hammer a screw
drive through it to get it off.
