Excellent video, I will be doing this on my Expo soon. I have discovered
that doing it myself is fun and saves a LOT of money. Suggestion: wear
safety glasses when using the pneumatic tools. A man I know lost an eye
when using a wire brush, and once I split a socket, which flew across the
garage and dented the dry wall.
Ok so that was by far the best video I have seen yet. So here is my
question. My 06 F150 on occasion will start making a grinding sound in the
front which your video says is the bearings, well if my truck does the
grinding noise randomly at any speed then wont stop till I stop and I hear
a knock on the right then on the left as soon as the truck stops is that
still the bearings? Everytime I take it in it wont make the sound for the
person so they cant give me a reason for it.
Dear FordTechMakuloco, Can I replace just one side’s hub and bearing or do
I need to do both at the same time? Trying to keep a 2004 Expedition on
the road.
First off, thank you for your great videos!!
i had a humming noise at times, discovered a vacuum leak of the hose to the
hub and fixed it – that got rid of the noise. I noticed that this wheel is
not spinning as freely as the other side, but no noises while turning by
hand. While driving there is still a slight knocking noise that increases
with speed, is it possible to originate from the hub? Would you recommend
changing the hub, or maybe even the wheel bearing?
Vehicle is a 2012 F150
Thanks in advance.
Great video! I have a 2006 expedition, the check advancetrac light came on
and abs light. So I lifted her up to check the hubs and I have a bad hub
passenger side. Could this be why the check advancetrac light came on?
How many hours labor does ford charge to complete this job? My buddy is
charging me $140 to do this and change out actuator if he thinks its bad.
The actuator is only 1.5 years old, so I’m guessing its ok.
Pretty good video. My F350 is a 2000, which I assume is similar, so maybe
driving it all the time is not the best idea though. They wear out too.
I’d like to see a similar video on front wheel drive. My daily driver is a
2wd ’05 Ranger. I have my reasons. But there is a little noise from the
front which I haven’t isolated yet. More like clatter but the bearing
would be a good start.
Another fine video for all of us Ford fanatics. Hope you’ll be doing a
coolant flush instructional on an Ecoboost F150 as my baby is coming up on
that pretty soon.
One of the best channels on youtube IMHO.
I think you forgot to put back the plate guard..
Thanks for taking your time and making this great video!

Should I be taking the hub apart on my 01 Expo (230,000 miles) to grease
it, or is it permanent?

Is there anything “special” i should watch out for in regards to the 4
wheel drive (in the front or even in the rear)?

great videos bud. subscribed
I have a question……the rear axle nut? What is the torque on that? 185?
200?
Is this also for 1999 Ford expedition
When the bearing or hub goes out does it sound like your dragging a chain
length fence .
Safety glasses bud!!!!
Wheel bearing hubs Ford F150
you didnt replace the back plate .. oops … :)
safety glasses
very good video thanks
You used a spinning pad to clean up the rust surface before putting it
back together. What is the name and model number of that pad?
Thanks for the video. I am going to try this on my 2000.

You make it look like a piece of cake. Thanks for posting the video. I
will be looking @ your stuff, and advising others of the same.
I wish there was good mechanics like you everywhere thanks

I’ve always thought you have to have a press to get the wheel
bearing assembly out.
Whats with all the loctite. I would have put anti seize on just about
everything you put loctite on.
how much does ford want for those hub and bearing assemblies?

Super instructional as usual! I did notice the shield didn’t make it back
on. Was that intentional or did making a video distract even the pro?
