Monte Hyler says:

Good video! One question: Are starter solenoids replaceable these days? How about testing the solenoid to make sure it is actually sending voltage to the other large starter terminal? Thanks!

Alan Morrison says:

Monitoring the voltage at the main starter cable at the starter while cranking or attempting to crank is the best test of the cable itself after preliminary checks per your process..

Ron Anderson says:

Thank you and well done !

BigOwlBrain says:

And for good measure, be sure that the engine can rotate at the crank to rule out a mechanical issue. Even a seized alternator at the drive belt can keep a engine from cranking. Especially if it is a reman.

RG Endrud says:

is it ok to change to full synthetic at 100000 miles on my new to me 2016 5.0 f150?

Michael Schwenk says:

So if the starter relay fails could one turn key to ON position and short between the 12 volt always hot terminal to tne "S" terminal and get it to start?

Kelhem Cooks says:

the meat on those tires tho!

CamperMike says:

our 06 F-350 has had two replaced. First one someone tried to say the engine was locked up. I went out turned the lights on tried to start it. Lights didn't even dim and the starter made that exact noise.

Peter Bernier says:

I love your program. I live in Southern California and have a 2010 F150 Platinum with 207k miles on it. It runs great. In bought it used two years ago and I don’t know or think there has been a service on the timing chains.

Don’t want to take it to a dealer, do you know of any good shops in SD, OC or Riverside Counties. Thanks

ian vervalin says:

We always try to turn the eng over by hand before selling the starter.mabye 1 outta 50 are locked up engines.

Mike Lenker says:

Nice detailed description and demonstration of how to approach this condition.

Diver M says:

Great video

Tracy Spellemberg says:

I just want to say by far the best information about Ford's on YouTube simple easy to understand. I just wish you were closer I have a botched timing job that somebody did bank one over retardation. I think he used cheap parts. Guy spent $3,500 on a timing job and it still runs like crap.

Mriaz Qureshi says:

Hi, I have 2008 Mercury mountaineer couple months or so ago I went overseas when I came back mountaineer first to start normally but then after a few days I start having different lights coming on dashboard such as ABS light traction light engine light a mechanic told me it was a security module went bad on it replaced with a used one but it still didn't solved the issue just trying to see if you have any thoughts on it

chris narron says:

Ok. Who do you use for re-man alternator?

Peter Cohen says:

If I got to the point of verifying that appropriate power was getting to the solenoid and I was hearing a loud click with the motor not turning, I think I would want to verify that the engine is not seized before pulling the starter.

maxpaul11 says:

always a good Idea tto have someone crank the engine over while you tap the starter ,Boom it may start! haha bad starter solenoid!

Head Shot says:

I did a starter on my 05 f150 last year. This being an 06 makes sense the starter went this year. It's like this stuff is programmed to fail at a certain time.

Tanner Brigance says:

I’ve got a question about my 2004 ford f150 that I just had a new engine put in. The mechanic replaced the engine and I went to drive it home last night and after about 6 miles of driving I got a alert on my dash that said “engine fail safe mode” and “transmission failure” along with the OD off light flashing in the dash.
Do you have any suggestions on what might be causing these errors/issues?

oldschool says:

Brian, thank you for your time and knowledge as you help so many people.I pray for Gods blessings and protection for you ,your family and your business.

Fred Flintstone says:

Referencing around the 4 min mark….When did Ford learn how to spell gauges? LOL My 98 Ranger has a 'check gage' light for low fuel…

Oby-1 says:

Brian is the Guru when it comes to pickup trucks and everything else late model Ford.

Carter Orio says:
