Good lord..what a process just to change a light bulb that SURELY the engineers should have known will eventually burn out. Think I’ll just buy a cheap flash light and use it to check fuel levels at night.
thanks to this video problem solve!! problem with the link shift now is perfect!! thanks bro!!
You shouldn’t touch the lamps with bare fingers. The oil and grease on your skin causes early failure. If you do touch them, wipe with Isopropyl and good to go.
I so hope I do not have to do this. I just got the car and the dash board is not turning on when the head lights get turned on I was hoping it was a fuse but I guess we will see definitely subscribing
Wait, can someone please help me……… What is the green thing (like a chip) on the back of the cluster. upper right corner when its facing back. Is this affecting the odometer? Cause myodometeris not working. And can u pls tell me the name of the green thing. Thanks!
Thank You for the very detailed video I followed your video as I was doing it & got the job done in two hours! My very worn cable was replaced with piece of mind now. My dash lights haven’t seen light of day for years.
I still had a problem on it going into park and after digging around I found a screw on the floor. I looked up a additional U Tube and found A additional fix of 2 screws that need tightening . If anyone else has this problem look at Ford F150 that won’t go into park by HoodJob 4U
you, sir, made a great video!! I just changed bulbs in my 2000 ranger… same exact setup. great job!!! thanks!!!!!!
I have a stage 2 2006 Rpush mustang and the gauge lights dont work. The needles do but where the mphs are doesnt. I was driving to work and they flickered on for about 20 seconds then flipped off. I have no idea how to fix this. Can anyone help me?
as long as you take your time its pretty easy
OMG it was too easy! I just used some good super glue on my plastic piece and made sure it wasnt loose enough to come apart again and I also replaced all my lights in the instrument cluster at the same time. I was too happy to have it fixed my neighbor looked at me as I started to dismantle the dash w/ shock. I was hoping for all white lighting but I cant argue Im happy its done. Thank you so much for this vid
This was a big help it saved me time figuring it out my self I got done in 10 minetd
I did this step by step and now my hood release latch won’t work. Any help? please. 2001 ford explorer xlt.
is there any way you can stop that annoying indicator clicking relay sound that manufactures sadly still make us put up with. theres no need for it. its horrilbe. it becomes a real pain. same with the flashing dahsbord light. you dont really need it. to me its one less distraction that you can do without whilst driving and research shows its distractions on dahsboards that cause most accidents.
yes its the same cluster, and basicly the exact same procedure to replace them, just 194 “peanut” bulbs its a smiple repair just take ur time
Is it the same procedure for a 1999 for explorer? I have the same exact problem with my instrument cluster lights and gear alinement
Dude that was thru seven planes of hell…yours truly would have lost the fasteners and tried to substitute wood screws just to get thru the job~
Thanks for posting this. Had the same issue with the lights, and this video saved me tons of time trying to figure out how to get the dash apart.
Remote every f screws lol
fuck this shit lates too many scews
Whoa! I just replaced the same kind of bulb in my A/C control and it cost like $5 for two bulbs with the black thing on it. That bulb comes out?! O.o Holy smokes I got jipped. Ha ha!
What now…I replaced the bulbs and put everything back, only to find the gauges now don’t work. Fuse 11 was bad, replaced and the new one popped instantly.
Should be the same 194 bulb.
What size bulbs do I need for a ’98 Mercury Mountaineer? I went to Autozone and they did not know.. Ugh!
Wow…Thanks….I need to replace the lights in the dash….JEEEZZZZ,,,,,it is easier to just use a flashlight,,NO? Another little project i am not looking forward tooo..Can i pay you to repair mine?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Helped so much. What a pain in the ass though jeez!
to get to the other bolts under the trim
Assuming you are a superior motorist, your vehicle insurance carrier should really be presenting you a price break. Spend as little as $9 every week. Pay a visit to this particular website and find out how.

I started watching this video because I thought it was the problem I have on my truck but continue to watch it because it was so very detailed and informative keep up the great work. Good video! And don’t worry about saying now too much it worked for me.
Your automotive insurance company doesnt wish you to find out the fact that you are overpaying these people. Go to this particular site and acquire a more favorable price on car or truck insurance coverage.

Now! Great vid. I need to do this on my ’03 Heritage Edition F-150.

Why did you remove the bezel and stereo?
connected some led lights to my dimmer switch and now my dash cluster lights do not work, but the leds do… anybody have a idea why
Nice, thanks! Just did dash lights on my 1999 Mountaineer, was easy after watching your video.
good job partner.wish you were here to do mine.guess i will give it a go myself.try diffrent color lights though.thanks.any other help on 99 expo is grately appreciated.
I just bought a 1999 Ford Explorer. Half the dash lights are out and the speedometer & odometer are broken. I’m thinking I may just replace the whole instrument panel, but I was told that the speedometer/odometer problem is most likely the car’s computer, so replacing the entire panel may be useless. I’d like to at least get the lights working, but watching this video (which is excellent btw) makes me think I might just leave them burned out. LOL I’d never get it all back together again
I want to start off by saying that I need a lot of help. I have a 1992 Plymouth Voyager and all of the dashboard lights are off but my engine lights come up. For example, the “Check Gauges”, and my “Anti Lock” light. I changed the entire dashboard and replaced it with an entire new one. That didn’t work. I check the Fuses, the Relays, the wires inside the dashboard, none of that work. Now I have to check the two computers. Do you have any idea what’s going on with the van? Thank You.
A much better idea is to replace the bulbs with LED. The type of LED is Cool White WLED-xHP5 and you need 6. I ordered 8 just in case something happened. You can also replace the A/C cluster with 2 LED but you need to check the type of bulb since Ford put out two or three versions of the cluster. The LED’s need to be 360 Degree output. Google it. Your panel will be brighter but not enough to cause a problem. LED can also be dimmed.
Muchísimas gracias señor
DAMN I WISH I KNEW HIM SO HE COULD DO MY SHIT… I WOULD HAVE BEEN FUCK UP
