I hit water on several over the years. Install a .125 wall sleeve with a step at the bottom with loctite sleeve retainer.
Never had a problem, but all stock or mild engines

Anything less than 0.100 thousandths thick is too thin. It'll crack on its own and very soon. You could run .060 oversized if your thickness was at least .140. Because you're only taking out .030 per side for a .060 oversized bore.

Hey the rust in the coolant jackets is that an issue? I’m rebuilding a r53 mini cooper JCW and the coolant jackets have the same deal. But I am hoping since I’m in California it’s only surface rust. But I’m stuck at a stand still with the engine block in the car cause I don’t have a cherry picker and there is still coolant in the block do you think I’ll be okay?
