Hi Scotty! My 2000 Ford Ranger steering pump used to make a loud whine but
after I did a full flush and added some royal purple, the noise is not as
loud WHILE the truck is moving above say 10mph. But its still as loud as
before while turning under 10mph. And its stiffer. Even louder when trying
to turn while parked. There are no leaks or air bubbles that I know of..
Any fix to this?

Colin Donovan says:

The steering on my 2002 Camry has been ‘moaning’ (as I call it) since I got
it in 2009. I’ve noticed it getting a little louder when it’s warm and
humid out. The power steering reservoir has had enough fluid in it all the
time and it still bugs me what’s causing it.

RICHARD B Smith says:

Scotty,
I always enjoyed your plain-spoken solutions when you were on television
here in Houston. It’s good to see you’re still out there helping the rest
of us. My 2013 Toyota Sienna is making a clunking/metal sound when I turn
left. It doesn’t do it all the time and it doesn’t sound like a bad CV
joint. The dealership doesn’t have an answer.

Seegal Galguntijak says:

What is Ole Smokey Moonshine?

Glen Kentt says:

Wow I like his videos thank a lot for this info

James White says:

I have a 2000 Chrysler Town And Country 3.3 V6 minivan that I just replaced
the power steering pump and leaky hight pressure hose on. The problem I
have is from a stop it is hard to steer but at 10mph or more its easy to
steer. I flushed the system and turned the wheels while they were off the
ground for 10 minutes or so. Should be no air in the system right? Is there
an additive or something that could help?

Juan Noguera says:

Hi Scotty, recently I had same problem with a leaking idle switch on a
Buick 91 and after replaced it the steering keeps hard to turn on low
idle… do I have to recalibrate the computer with the new switch or is
something else?

JoblessGuydotnet says:

And if you don’t fix that leaky/squeaky powersteering pump, it will drip
all the fluid right onto the alternator and eventually, kill the
alternator.

Sandra Brown says:

I HAVE A 1999 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AND THE POWERSTEERING PUMP IS MAKING WHINING
NOISE ESPECIALLY WHEN I START UP, MAKE TURNS AND SOMETIMES IDLE. I NOTICE
THE PULLEY ON IT WAS STICKING. I PUT SOME WD-40 ON IT AND IT KIND OF
HELPED BUT STILL ANNOYING. DO I NEED A NEW PUMP OR JUST THE PULLEY?

Luis Pelaez says:

Will changing the powersteering fluid in my bmw e46 remove the noise? it
comes when i steer. i already changed struts and shock absorbers, could it
also be bushings?

Stefan Damjanovic says:

My ’02 Civic Ex is leaking from the p.s. pressure switch connector – the
little rubber piece keeps popping out. Is there a sealant I should use to
keep it in there, or is there something else I can do? I’m also replacing
the switch itself..

Xzevious U says:

How much does it usually cost to fix this? A mechanic was gave me an
estimate of $427 to fix my problem with the “power steering pump”

Barb leblanc says:

I have a question we have a 99 grand marquis….and lately it started

camron gocoyo says:

hey sir scotty i just replace my ps pump, and all the belt also the idler
pulley. but why my belt squeal when first start in the morning specially
when AC is on?

RikoLime says:

When my old car did this, I knew instantly it was power steering (my ex
then had a mustang he claimed the previous owner had let it get too low,
and the car permanently sounded like it was powered by locusts when he
turned). One of the hoses was leaking. I was filling it up daily. It wasnt
TOO bad.. but man, everyone thinks about the oil, coolant and windshield
fluid.. forgot about the power steering.

John Cunningham says:

love it

NGSPC4Life says:

ive been having issues with my power steering as well, but my hose line
are wet straight out of the reservoir bottle, should i use a dye to find
the leak and if so hat would you recommend

adrian guzman says:

Scotty, i have another question, my car makes a little movement when it
changes to the 2 gear. It’s automatic, do you think that it’s the
transmission or spark plugs?

Julie Zeid says:

Scotty, I watched your video and have a question regarding my 1993 Accord
EX. I’ve had a rubber sounding noise when the steering wheel is turned
left or right. It is the loudest in the morning but will still continue
through out the day. This has been going on for about a month. My mechanic
oiled the steering column but the noise is still there. Another mechanic
mentioned the possibility of a bushing wearing out. The car does have
273,000 miles on it. What are your thoughts?

Joe Isliefson says:

you sir, are excitable.

Lionel Davis says:

I had just changed my engine in my car. Before i changed it it was quiet
but now its making noises. What could had happen?

Paul Dimofte says:

I DON T HAVE A CAR I M JUT WATCH BECAUSE I LIKE !

Jed Clampett says:

Great info there, Scotty. But what is wrong if the power steering system
is only noisy (growly sound) turning the wheel to the left (95 Mercury
Sable)? PS fluid level okay. 36K miles. Thanks for all your videos —
dig `em!

adrian guzman says:

I have a question, my dad owns a Ford Taurus 1995 and it have a noise… It
started just when you used the accelerator but now after like 4 months it
makes the noise every time.. A mechanic told him that “maybe” it was the
transmission.. What do you think it’s the problem? Thank you

Eugenia Miranda says:
