Hey,

i got the same focus and same problem. but when it runs idle and i open the hood i hear a blowing sound. somewhat like a compressor blowing.

viperz888 says:

thats the same as brake cleaner

welshlad2 says:

i used to have this problem with my vectra take the valve off and give it a few squirts of choke and carb cleaner

wolvogamer says:

If you clean it out thoroughly you should get away with it. I just wanted to swap the valve just to be sure. (If you can get the valve off easily enough then clean it, if you are really struggling then I suggest to do the job once and swap it)

kamakrazy01 says:

Hi thanks for video but quick question, you said near end of video that you got secondhand parts on ebay? Does this mean that when you cleaned the part is still had an issue? Let me know mate thanks

Sometimes this hose just cracks. Be glad you don’t have 1.6 16V, I had to change it after 120k kilometers :/

DJCrisisSW15 says:

would just like to say thank you, yours was the first vid i watched as wanted to do the work myself looked easy, and considering i have never done anything mechanical on a car cept spark plugs i was quite impressed with myself when i finished, was a bit of a hard to get to place and took me a while but removed cleaned and noticed the difference pretty much instantly, so far so good so once again big thanks

wolvogamer says:

Just a quick heads up. This car is still running fine.

wolvogamer says:

Is this a gearbox speed sensor? If so, did you have the symptoms of the speedometer randomly dropping off when driving?

viperz888 says:

brake cleaner is better than wd40 for this

Anthony Thomas says:

just bought a focus x reg – drove car home fine turned off engine – popped into house went to go out to move it further down drive and it failed to start (cranks fine but does not fire start) left it for 30mins – started fine? if run then for 2.5miles and tuen off cant start again for some time or cool down? any guesses?? – thanks Anthony

djmonassi1 says:

Good Evening wolvogamer, I was wondering if you could make a video of the hose that runs from the back of the manifold to see where it links to on the other end. I would very much appreciate it. My Mums car seems to missing it.

Clifford Evans says:

You cleaned the Idle valve with WD40 then you say you fitted a new(ish) one bought from ebay. What was wrong with the first fix – the WD40 fix?

Jeremy Ouyang says:

Yes I removed the whole air box which has air filter in it — that was the easy part.
Still I couldn’t get access to the lower 8mm. Even if I could loosen the top one, I may have great trouble putting it back.
Did you do all the work from the top? Any suggestion?
Thanks

wolvogamer says:

Have you removed the air filter housing? This allows a much better look and access to the valve.

Jeremy Ouyang says:

Hi

I am wondering how exactly did you remove the valve with a spanner and a screwdriver?

I tried twice today but couldn’t get even close. I managed somehow to loosen the 8mm on the top but couldn’t even see the one at the bottom, let alone work on it.

Did you jack up your car and did it from underneath?

Thanks

I have the same car question four you you car never shutt off when you drive or get to any traffic like or step in the traffic

wolvogamer says:

You need to change that breather pipe if you can see it has perished or collapsed. Have a check on E-bay for the pipe as they are common, or ring up the local ford dealer. What are you struggling with exactly?

Juan Nunez says:

i have a 2000 focus its starts then it turns off unles i hold the gas i changed the maf same problem. i did see the hose collapsed please help me out.
