With small rust spots forming on the cab corners of my 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck, I decided to try a DIY repair to get rid of the rust. It turned out OK, so here I’m sharing the results. The following items were used:
– Dremel tool
– Rustoleum primer
– Rustoleum paint
– Rustoleum clear coat
– Newspaper & painter’s tape
For about $20 in supplies and 3 hours of time, I can’t complain about the results!
Damn that's horse shit that it's rusting
It's been a year since you posted this vid, has the rust came back?
PS! the rust will be back. Sorry!
Welcome to the Ford rust club. I wouldn't piss on a Ford dealership if it was on fire. Bought a new 2013 Platinum and its rusting in the same location yours is. Sold that POS quick to a local guy and two years later the whole corner panel are rusted out. My rust started at 16000 miles. Ford did all they could not to repair it. I now own a beautiful Chevy with know problems. It has 24000.
take off the weather stripping and see whats under that surprise more rust. I know cause i have one.
I would probably cover that area with clear aerosol chip guard.
you need to sand that off in spring and get some epoxy primer dab that on and feather get a can duplicolor oem matching paint and 600 sand that and clearcoat that. then get the truck oil sprayed in every possible frame body cavity possible, trust me i know i have owned 2 f150 supercrews since 02
