(Code P0720) Replace Speed Sensor on 6R80 Ford Transmission | Ford Expedition EL 4WD 5.4L 3V Engine

In this video I will cover step by step process for replacing the molded lead frame and speed sensor on the 6R80 Ford automatic transmission. My vehicle is a 2013 Ford Expedition EL with 5.4L 3V engine and 6R80 transmission.

I was driving on the highway when the check engine light cam on, and my transmission automatically downshifting to first gear and power save mode and I couldn’t drive more than 5 mph.

I read the ECM with a scan tool and discovered that the code was P0720 output shaft speed sensor. on the 6R80 transmission case the output shaft speed sensor is inside the transmission case, connected to the valve body by a molded lead frame.

In order to replace the shift speed sensor I had to open up the transmission and replace the entire molded lead frame.

This looks like a difficult repair. Did you get a quote from an auto shop? Wondering what they'd charge for labor. And if it was worth the mess and time.
