Toyota has it right when they said they are not sold on EV’s and plug in hybrid is more practical. Electric for your daily commute and gas for trips. Price just needs to come down. You can buy a lot of gas for the 10k extra they charge for them.
I was talking with an engineer at a major utility that are looking to park wind turbines offshore near North Carolina. He told me that they are putting explosive bolts on the blades so they can blow the blades off the nacelle when a hurricane is bearing down on the field. I started laughing until I saw he wasn’t kidding. I told him that NC gets a major hurricane like every few years do they plan on replacing all the blades after each storm? He said “yes”.
Adding 13 miles of range per hour doesn't sound right – either that, or he has a lead foot. The F-150 Lightning should get about 2 miles/kWh average efficiency (my Leaf is over 4 miles per kWh, so 2 miles/kWh sucks!). However, if this guy's story is accurate, then either the charging rate was less than 9.6 kW (240V * 40A, so almost 10 kWh added per hour) or he gets only 1.35 miles per kWh (1.35 miles/kWh * 9.6 kW = 13 miles per hour of charging). Assuming the L2 charging rate is 9.6 kW and that he gets the expected 2 miles per kWh, he should be adding about 19 miles per hour…

This is why EV trucks for distance towing are just not there yet. Local towing? Great. Not towing? Fine.
It's not because the range drops when driving, because that happens to all trucks when towing.
When the towing truck, w/o towing, has 300 ish miles of range … and diesel truck has maybe 600 miles, w/o towing … the diesel will clearly win.
'Refill' time and station density fill the rest in.
It'll take a while.
Wind mills are fine … WHEN done correctly. When not done correctly, like most things, you've got problems.
EVs cost 1/4th of the price of combustion engine vehicles to build, and yet the majority of them are more expensive to buy.
The EV manufacturers are laughing at you all, on their way to the bank.

Now they are asking that you charge your battery during day time when generating electricity at night is with fossil fuel. HA HA HA

One broken blade on one apparently poorly made wind turbine does not equal a systemic problem.
Listening to some pro electric people they write off the distance issue with “no one road trips anymore”
Guess once they get their own electric car and no longer can use the open highway guess they just assume no one is driving on them? On my trips I for sure could assume (driving on the highways) that almost no one drives electric cars since I hardly see any.
EVs don’t seem like a good change over from gas cars/trucks. Lol
If you're someone who does a lot of cross country traveling this truck isn't for you. It's simply not efficient enough. But with that extended battery it seems perfect for someone who isn't traveling hundreds of miles a day. I would argue most who drive trucks probably drive a several dozen miles to work park their truck and its just sits there until its time to go home. Even working construction your truck does a lot of sitting. The lightning seems perfect in everyday scenario. Just plug it in when you get home and it charges over night. Long rang ev trucks just aren't there yet for long haul or towing.
By all these real cost comes to light will be to late
