Hello,
I have 2001 Toyota Avalon 3.0 L(XLS) V6.

each ignition coil has 4 wire (plug):

one is ground to each coil. ( W-B COLOR.)

one is coming from the ECU toward each coil to 12 v. (IGF, COLOR, B-Y.)

one is connected to the ECU (as signal,,,, positive signal ?????) to each
coil. (6 DIFFERENT COLORS).

one is from the NOISE FILTER (IGNITION). to each coil. (B-W COLOR)

I HAVE THREE QUESTIONS:

1. what is the noise filter for the ignition(purpose) and how to test it???

2. is the signal intermittent means not continues signal and it is POSITIVE
signal??? due to Transistor out of the ECU, but built in each ignition coil
itself !!!!

3. IS this signal coming toward the ECU by the ignition coil OR OR the ECU
send to the coil? AND
4. What kind of signal – or +

What kind of commercial coil tester did you have

wafrederick says:

When you get a missfire on a ford triton engine with the coil on plug
ignition system, coil is bad and these eat coils left and right. The DIS
ignition system came out because of less moving parts it is the same with
the coil on plug ignition system.I like the coil on plug ignition
system,cleaner engine area.

Great video!

very good video.

lightlyone says:

Sounds like a good system, but now it costs as much to have coils r&r’ed as
it used to to get an engine rebuilt. Is it worth a little bit of efficiency
improvement?

jonjoseph1 says:

Great video. I have a 4.6L Ford engine (2005) which looks like what you
have in this video. My gas mialage is starting to decline so I thought I’d
change the plugs, but it looks like I would have to pull the fuel rail to
get at the coil and plug. However, in the video you seem to be able to get
the coil out easily. Can the coil and plugs be removed without pulling the
rail?

mr cadzillas i have 2002 odissey honda v6 engine and the engine is shaking
i replaced spark plugs already and still shaking i check the COP coils and
found 1.95 ohms on other the smallest measurement was 1.85 ohms can you
tell me specifications of this car the specifications of the COPs

cadzillals6 says:

Points and condensers? Ok, if you like tuning up the vehicle every 12 k
miles.

CHIBA280CRV says:

thanks for the info video, and i see you have a conventional ignition users
comment which i find it to be valid.. I feel to each its own and somethings
work better for others..The new systems has its advantages and
disadvantages ,for instance you have to spend more money to purchase them
and you need more modern test equipment to verify the problem! but change
is good and the old saying applies, “if it ain’t broke why fix it”. thanks..

Kevin Howard-Tripp says:

you cannot beet the simplicity of points and condesor systems they are so
easy to diagnose and cheap to fix even in remote places all this technology
is just bullshit to make more money.

cadzillals6 says:

The coils are easy to remove, you do not need to remove the fuel rail. The
boots on the coils are flexible and they come out pretty easy after
removing the screw. Be sure to replace the coil boots when you change the
plugs, use the XP Iridium plugs for best performance and mileage.
