I agree with comment below about prefilling the oil filter.
i recently purchased a brand new 2013 flex sel awd,so i will be doing an
oil change on it shortly. your video was really good, i thought it was
detailed enough to where anyone can do an oil change. thank you. as always
check out my vids of mine and my brothers gran torino’s. gtsfastback on
youtube.
Very professional video. Just what I needed. Thanks for posting it!
i was wondering if the flex tells you when the oil life is almost gone like
if it tells you “20% oil life” if so is there a way to reset that once you
change your oil? i am planing on buying one this 2013 year coming up i just
dont know if i am going with preowned or new. thanks for your help guys.
@James Kennedy, I haven’t gotten it yet but thanks for the reply. It will
be very helpfull when I get it 🙂
who ever tightened the oil filter tightened it way too much
Great vid, other than you might be putting your filter on too tight. Its
only a half turn when it starts to get tight.
Sweet video.. at walmart now about to purchase everything I need change my
oil…
Just finished my oil change. BREEZE thanks to your helpful hints! But, of
course, no job takes just one trip to the store. There are two different
filter types for the 2009 Flex depending on when it was built and none of
the manufacturers’ sites are at all helpful. We finally found the Purelator
PL22500 ($7.99 PepBoys) would fit. We can not use the Fram PH3600 or
Motorcraft 400S. Our Flex was built in 7-2009, after the 1-15-2009 switch
over.
good video
he should have filled oil in the oil filter also so the oil pressure builds
up quicker.
Thank you for the video. It was nice of you to take the time to document
that for other people. I’ll have to see how it compares to my 2010 when I
put Amsoil 25,000 mile/1 year synthetic in it.
You probably already bought your flex but to answer your question, it does
tell you when oil is getting close to life.
I use a 5qt jug all the time. Although I have a Volvo S60. I’ve never used
a funnel to put oil in it. Although it’s a totally different oil filler
location. The 5qt jugs are good so long as you have a steady hand
