@Napster9810 Hmm, other than the third brake light causing the water leak,
the only other way water could get in is if there is a rust hole somewhere
on the top of the roof. I would still suspect the third brake light
assembly though, perhaps it’s time for a new one.

I’m glad I found this, my 2000 Ranger started leaking, I had my truck into
a professional body shop and they could not determined where the leak was
coming from. I decided it was the light, and a new light was $98.40, my
gasket is pretty bad so, I silicone chalked mine temporarily. During this I
discovered the plastic mounts the screws go into are stripped out, I need
ones. Do you carry those? I’m happy to discover your current price is for
the light is $39.30!

Christopher Pausz says:

dang that looked easy, something I can do!

TheSkippar1 says:

i siliconed mine, doesn’t leak anymore

ncbookz says:

MY 3RD LIGHT WORKS BUT MY 2 BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK NEW BULBS ARE IN BUT
STILL NO LIGHTS ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK PARKING LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS AND
REAR LIGHTS BUT NO BREAK LIGHTS BUT 3RD BREAK LIGHT WORKS. ANY IDEAS?

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

@ncbookz Yes, you can add your own ground, and it sounds like you have the
idea correct, you just have to splice in another ground to the ground wire,
and then attach the other end to the frame or chassis.

ndchevy says:

The problem I had with my third brake light was the wiring harness was
melted where the light bulbs went in

Napster9810 says:

I have an 03 Ranger. Water leaking into the headliner at the rear of cab.
I’ve caulked the 3rd break light to high heaven and water still getting in.
Any ideas?

Auto Parts Direct To You says:

@ncbookz Sounds like a wiring issue, you need to start by checking for
voltage and ground at the brake light sockets (while pressing the brake
pedal). That will tell you whether you are missing the ground signal or the
+12v signal. Once you determine that, you will need to trace the
appropriate wires back until you find the problem.

Larry Gee says:

So I take it Ford does not sell a new gasket seal…..They make you buy a
whole new assembly? Sounds just like Ford.

iRaceBeetles says:

Its common for the 2009 F150..

wangbungal says:

where did you get the third brake light from?

ncbookz says:

@APDTY i replaced everything else so i figured today it was a ground issue,
my only problem is knowing where the wires ground to under the car
somewhere i suppose, i wonder if i can make my own ground off the last
terminal on the last bulb in the circuit should work right?
volt-b1-b2-ground i make to the frame
