Ah! P0171 is “fuel system too lean (bank 1).” That means the A/F (air/fuel)
mixture is too rich. There could be an endless number of possible causes
without having more information. If the MAF isn’t reading right: It’ll
trigger that. If the IAC isn’t closing: It might trigger it. If an O2
sensor isn’t reading right, it’ll trigger it. The positive crankcase
ventilation (PCV) might cause it. It could also be a fuel injection issue.
Which could be the fuel pump, filter (clogged), injector (clogged

got a p0171 code with possible causes were low fuel pressure, MAF, bad O2
sensor or fuel injector. looked all over for a solution. someone said
vacuum leak. I heard a hissing…found it at what looked like a pcv
valve/hose. Your video is dead on what i’m looking at and tells me this is
going to hurt replacing LOL

LOL why Irritiable??? why that name?? Is it irritable you mean? if its
because of the focus I understand. Thanks for the video…after replacing
the MAF and an O2 sensor I found a leak with your help. Thanks dude

Irritiable says:

Nope. It was specifically misspelled (social experiment almost 6 years
running!). 🙂 You’re welcome. What was the leak? And how did replacing the
MAF sensor/O2 sensor (upper/lower?) help you find it? 😮

Irritiable says:

) or possibly something else altogether. It could be a faulty electrical
connection (to a battery terminal) causing the fuel injectors to not fire
properly (but that would be accompanied by misfires you’d think!), or even
a faulty battery itself. But! If it was the PCV ($5 part?): I’m glad this
video helped you out. 🙂
