If u replaced all the bags nd the compressor then it is the air suspension
relay. But first check the main fuse located in the fuse box under the hood
it is a 50amp nd will cost 5 to 6 dollars a piece get that changed nd if it
still doesnt turn on it will be the relay nd the relay is located on the
left side behind the bumper mouted to the frame with a 4wire connecter nd
that part is $160 ONLY from the ford dealer. I have had the same problems
with my 2000 expedition.

What’s the labor time on this job, I need to do one and not sure on pricing
? Seems pretty fast 1 or 2 hrs. ?

MySquirt09 says:

i found the wires that are blue, red, and yellow cut in my air suspension
the only one that was still good was the black one i taped them back
together but the check susp. is still on. what could i do?

k31rifleman says:

You rock. With your video I changed out this compressor today and saved big
money. Thank You for doing this video, you help my family out today big
time.

Qaasim830 says:

@Autotechviewpoint Ok the compressor wasn’t the problem I think its the
sensor because the compressor makes a sound but the bags don’t inflate

Frankie Barrios says:

Air sensor may be malfunctioning. New one cost $300+ if anyone needs one
message me. Have new one for sale for $150

Michael Morataya says:

well the compressor was still connected and the switch in the back was on
the on position. idk if there is another way of disabling it? the fuse and
relay is also still on there so i was wondering maybe there is a way for
the compressor to know not to turn on when the air ride suspension bags are
not connected?

Autotechviewpoint says:

Glad I was able to help you out, quite the saving!

MrJustenough01 says:

i have a 97 explorer, i havent heard the compressor in forever even when i
changed one of mshocks. is it broken how an where is it so i can replace it?

Tommy Still says:

My Expedition suspension light come on today while driving, and the rear
bags slowly went down. I got home checked all the fuses, and the compressor
will still not come on. I have noticed it being on a lot lately, red
lights, stops, etc, but didn’t think anything of it. Does each rear bag
have a solonoid, or do they air together. If there are 2, is there a way to
check them? I am sure I need a compressor, but want to fix it all in one
whack. Any suggestions?

Autotechviewpoint says:

A LOT likely no. some. Hard to say without being there. check mounting to
see if there is anything loose, or bad rubber pieces.

Troy Wilson says:

I have a 2000 expedition. When starting, you can hear the compressor turn
on to fill the bags. All day the car would perform perfectly. Overnight,
the rear airbags would bottom out. I’ve checked for leaks and could not
find any. Could you enlighten me on anymore troubleshooting tips or fixes?

drodriguez349 says:

can you make a video on how to install a switch to a multi compressor

Troy Wilson says:

I’ve done the soap and water check on the lines, compressor, solinoids and
bags. Still no leaks detected. I’ve also let the bags inflate and turned
off the compressor. Overnight they still bottom out. They suspension
functions properly when the car is started and when it is running.

Que pasa cuando una bolsa no trabaja

Autotechviewpoint says:

@Herrante915 Well, you likely need to check the fuses that may be related
to it. And the Relay as well. If you have a test light or voltmeter, you
need to check for power at the compressor, relay and/or fuses… Good luck.

hermcavs23 says:

I have the same issue. The rear bags wont work. checked fuses, had Ford
tech. replace rear bags as per their recommendation. After they changed
those out they said I need a compressor…Really??? Ok… Parked it for a
few months… Today the check suspension light was on. After installing the
new compressor. check suspension light is off. Bags did not inflate nor did
the pump turn on. Spliced into the power lines with sewing needles. Pump
turns on. So its good… ohm’d out the lines. their good

maconsumner says:

I just got a quote for a new compressor from Advance of $470 !!!!, does
that sound right? For what it appears to be I am not seeing any more than
maybe $100 at the high end!!!

Demi Kellman says:

hi. u probably have a bad right rear air bag or selanoid which caused the
compressor to wear out

Autotechviewpoint says:

I wish I could but have only worked air suspension a couple times, this
video being one. How did you check for leaks? Soapy water on lines?

ANDREOFNORTHDALLAS says:

Does a 1998 Lincoln town car have a air compressor?

Wilmary Bront says:

muchachaaaa

Tony Garza says:

Why did you change the susp. compressor? If the rear is dropping does that
mean yo need a susp. compressor? Will any lights on dashboard light up
warning you need to fix compressor? Thanks, for the video.

Alantino Beavers says:

You are the man! I watched your video and saved my self $2500 dollars. I
went to the junk yard and got a new compressor for $26.50 and replaced the
bad one I had. It worked like a charm. I am commenting from College Park
Ga. Once again thanks and keep up the good work.

Autotechviewpoint says:

@Qaasim830 You need power and ground to get the compressor to work, check
fuses. If you are handy with electrical stuff, you could try to run the
compressor by hooking up power and ground to it, just to see if it works.
There is a relay I believe that operates the compressor.

Autotechviewpoint says:

Best advice is to use a flash light and take a look at Navigator and see if
you can see it in the same place.

Autotechviewpoint says:

IF that was actually the only problem, then you may just need to clear the
code(s) to turn off the light. You could try to disconnect the battery, may
or may not work. Or scan tool to clear them.

joanna reyes says:

no but they told me its better to might as well put springs

linuxtad says:

Have a 97 and the compressor just runs and runs – at first it was just
periodically – later it just ran non-stop. I turned it off (behind back
panel) some time ago and am thinking of getting it going again. I think the
first thing I will do is replace shocks/struts etc. I bought the rig about
8 years ago and think a little tlc is in order 🙂 Thanks for the video, it
may come in handy if I need to replace the compressor!

biguceduce says:

Thankx for the vid..can you tell me how to eliminate the error warrning
message when I take off my air suspension and install springs?I guess I
cant smog my navigator if I have these error messages?

angel zamudio says:

thanks I will check

joshuamounts22112 says:

Changed compressor but still don’t kick on,

Carmelo Trump says:

do have to replace the air springs prior to the compressor ?

Autotechviewpoint says:

the only other thing I can think of maybe listening for a leak, in a real
quiet garage? some techs use a stethoscope to listen for air leaks. Each
each side independent of the other?? If they are connected somehow, maybe
try to isolate one somehow to see if one or the other stays inflated.. good
luck!

Autotechviewpoint says:

I am sure somehow you could make it a little more waterproof with some
spray . I do not think it will go down, it will just not move from its last
position.

Autotechviewpoint says:

As I recall no nothing would fall, just that the suspension would not go up
or down with no air compressor working. Likely was a suspension light on,
but do not remember for sure.

Robert Serrano says:

i have a expedition 1998 and my compressor wont turn on no more and i have
all ready checked all my fuses and the compressor relay and the rear of my
truck dropped all the way can you help me out ? thank you

Felipe Sanchez says:

Hi man, I have a question for you. My 2000 Ford expedition suspension air
compressor is making a weird loud noise. It is also not pumping air into
air bags. I checked under and there is no air leak. My question is, do I
have a bad air compressor on my hands or something more complicated? I have
also uploaded a video on my channel with the noise it makes. Thanks in
advance for your response.

Autotechviewpoint says:

Guessing if they both went down that their is a hole in the air line
feeding both, or the solenoid that allows air to flow to them has an issue.
Light on means there should be a code stored. If you can get that code
pulled somehow, I may be able to help more, or research the code you get on
line… good luck.
