1965 Tonka Volkswagen Beetle Restoration + How to Install Custom Exterior Accessories

Today, we have a fantastic restoration for you. This is a 1965 Tonka Volkswagen Beetle, also known as Model #156. We bought this Volkswagen on eBay in a lot with several other toys. This model was produced from the mid-1960s, all they way up into the 1970s. A really cool and unique element to this model was that it used the actual name from a car manufacturer. Tonka often created models that were very similar to real life cars, especially in the 50s and 60s with the dump trucks looking very similar to Ford pickups of the time. Although they looked the part, they had no relationship. Other examples (the little vehicles that came with the Tonka Car Carriers) included Ford Falcons, Mustangs, Rancheros, and even Chevrolet Corvettes. Feel free to sit back, relax, and join us as this old VW Beetle gets a complete makeover.

Let us know what you all think, should we do more of these unique Tonka models on this channel? Maybe some of the more popular models? Possibly something other than toys?

Glen Tucker says:

Great job! The bright yellow fits it perfectly. Really like the fabrication that went into it. Thank you!

William Harris says:

The orange thing is a connector from a Tinkertoy set; is used to join two long rods together. I played extensively with this back in the 1970s.

Edwin Ayala Sr says:
