You don’t get a modable game lol it’s already modable when you install it,
but you should try downloading save game or starting a new game (of course
backup your current save game) or if that doesn’t work then try
reinstalling the game and then starting a new game. I had those problems
myself and downloaded some random save game from internet and it works 😀
But you can also try loading a save game that you have saved before game
started crashing (if you have any).
