It almost looks like the belts and pulleys are smooth instead of geared

yohjidevera says:

does the f430 use chains instead of belts?

mrpcar says:

Yeah, 3-4 years or 30k miles which ever comes first. But in most case I
doubt anyone put 30k miles on their ferrari… car probably wouldn’t last
that long before it falls apart.

mrpcar says:

@soucorp – If I posted that video people would be sending me hate mails
telling me they just ruined their Ferrari because they worked on it.

hyperluv says:

Ahh… so those are the infamous belts that need to be changed routinely
that I keep hearing about.

mrpcar says:

F430 require less work since the timing belts were replaced by the chains.
If possible try to find one with a manual transmission, lots of nightmare
bank breaking issues with the F1 transmission. I looked at Lambos for
awhile, decided not to go against my best judgement like I did with the
Ferrari. I have 2 Porsches, 1 BMW, and I swear I will never buy another
Italian car again. You really find out what they are about when you start
taking them apart. A pile of junk!

mrpcar says:

Believe it or not I went through a lot of trouble to shoot this video.
Because the timing belts are hidden under a cover and blocked by a coolant
hose, so in order to fire up the engine to show the moving belt I had to
leave the cover off, install the coolant line, fill it with fluids run it
video it, pull the coolant line off install the cover to put the car back
together. All for the sake of taking this video. LOL!

mrpcar says:

Lots of crappy fiat parts used in the Ferrari, just imagine the fuel pump
breaks on a 20,000 mile car just sitting parked in the garage.

mrpcar says:

They are poorly designed and constructed, that’s why they require so much
service. Things break just sitting in the garage.

soucorp says:

useless video, what was the point! if you showed how to change the timing
belt, it would have been great!
