THIS LOOKS LIKE A NIGHTMARE ….. great video

sonordrum1000 says:

The total kit with belt, hill engineering tensioners, the plastic rub
blocks, fuel filters, gaskets etc etc was around 2K . You can go on Ricambi
America’s web site and get specific prices. The engine has to be removed
because there is not enough clearance between the front of the engine and
the gas tank and support structures to get in there to change it. I would
guess savings of doing it myself easily are over $ 3000.

sonordrum1000 says:

Yes, the 308 is an easier cam belt change because of the transverse engine.
You go through the left wheel well for access.

Flashmore says:

Is that geese or a dog hunt i can hear in the background?

SuperDagod1 says:

Ok afew questions. How much does the belt cost, how much for the valve
cover gaskets, how much for the spark plugs. Why does the engine need to be
removed, it is because you can’t get to the crank shaft wheel? How much did
you save by doing it yourself.

Yutubetopteensingers says:

at 5.14 could you have used the magnet to have got that pain washer off?

SuperDagod1 says:

What about like a 1977 308, would that cost a little less since it doesn’t
need to be lifted? Also if a seal isn’t leaking then why change it? I’m
trying to find one I can do most of the work on it.

ToniMattTony says:

Nice job but I say fuck that there is no way I going to try it. I will
spend the 3000 dollars. Thanks for sharing.

seapeddler says:

What’s Ferarri’s reason for not running the belt directly off a crank gear?

Yutubetopteensingers says:

oops thats what you were trying with, I thought it was a spanner…

sonordrum1000 says:

Good ears….I live on lake that’s full of geese in the winter.

sonordrum1000 says:

Good question. I guess since everyone else does it that way, they had to be
different and add several layers of complexity to their design….. chains,
plastic tensioners, etc.. One wonders what they were thinking!
