Christopher Bain says:

Wow! 700 for plug wires! I was complaining about the 250 price tag for my Alfa 164 3.0l 12v wires.. I love the similarities that Italians have in there engines. A Ferrari is next on my list. I’d love to get a 355. What else do you have in your garage?

stephen king says:

And i thought i had it bad with the 3000gt timing belt. Awesome engine dude

inycuda says:

To answer your questions Kingdom..yes I have something cooler and more rare. A limelite ’72 Cuda with a built 340 six pack. Yes, it is faster than a 348 until about 135-40 because of gears. I built the entire drive train and suspension myself so yes, I can do it. I am “commenting” on the car in the video. That is what a comment section is for. Stop taking it personal. You are a fucking homo. That was personal. See the difference?

kingdomboost says:

You may call it half-ass and feeble, but fact is you got the job done, and quite well. You’re a modest guy, but let’s call it for what it s. You are the MAN. I don’t have a Prancing Horse, but loved this video. Great work, and enjoy that Ferrari. PS. In my favorites too.

kingdomboost says:

Do you have a Ferrari? Do you have something faster or cooler? Can you do this job? Ok then.

inycuda says:

348’s are heavy and slow.

Mud Sh-sh-shark says:

been a Honda motorcycle mechanic for 30 yrs and was amazed how similar construction is. I actually have the tool to fit that nut . Are they shim under bucket lifters?

Yutubetopteensingers says:

348 Brotherhood are the best guys….. and the 348.com website is awesome for information. most 355 owners arent too bad. Some awesome tips on this video, well done.

Yutubetopteensingers says:

You have balls of steel to try and do this without experience… why didnt you use a breaker bar to get the crank bolt off?… I’m looking at whether I do my own major on my 348 or pay the $8.5k or more they charge here to do it.. I have a 328 due for a major as well which is normally around 3.5k here.

bjannne says:

that is an amazing video ! im about to buy one now, and this helps a lot for my confidence with the service. where can one buy the parts you mentioned ? again – amazing job and effort in sharing this !

legrandzim says:

HO THANKS A LOT …….

metalman2242 . says:

not bad at all. glad to see someone who does there own work instead of going to the dealer. i intend on buying a 308 once i pay off all my school loans. keep making the great videos i subscribed

sonordrum1000 says:

The “major service” kit from Ricambi America is $1750.00 plus those 2 plastic rub blocks for the oil and cam belt drive chain tensioners are about $400.00 each. At least those jobbies should last for many more years. Add a few bucks for new coolent, brake fluid, liquid gasket sealent, etc. At least I figured out a way to do the plug wires for dead cheap instead of the $700.00 or whatever it is for the official ones

metalman2242 . says:

awsome video. since you did the service yourself what was the cost of just the parts to do it. i know a full service by dealer is atleast 10k-15k

sonordrum1000 says:

Caution: what I call a 5/16 socket modified to remove the nut off the cambelt drive wheel is actually 15/16. I obviously didn’t have my reading glasses on at the time, but you can read the markings on the socket in the video if you look carefully

jukeboxhero844 says:

Essentially a timing belt change video right?

jozey hall says:

those first ‘little jobbies’ are belt tensioners 🙂

sonordrum1000 says:

Well, I bought the car about 10 months before with 16,000 miles and was told the belt had been recently changed, but I didn’t trust them. Plus it’s not just the belt, the tensioners are a weak point too. Then the the front of the engine was making some funny noises, so I figured it was time to do the deed

Jack Houpe says:

Excellent video! I have done many majors and a couple rebuilds on 308s but not on a 348 which I have just purchased. Other than the belt anti flop guides what was your opinion of the belt itselt and how many miles was on it before you changed it? Just out of curiosity.

sonordrum1000 says:

Thanks. Just trying to help the next guy. Hopefully they can learn from my feeble attempt. There’s a lot of info on Ferrarichat, so I thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect, but there were some surprises that others now maybe won’t have

sonordrum1000 says:

No, didn’t video engine removal. The extensive information on Ferrarichat does a great job of documenting the steps with still photos which works fine, Dropping the engine took longer than expected… almost a day. Putting it back in was longer… getting the bolts from the subframe to the body lined up and the threads to catch was very slow… each one seemed to require perfect allignment to go. Took a lot of patience. The there’s the bleeding of brakes, clutch, etc

davebdave1 says:

Excellent Video Series!! We own a 1992 Mondial t and I have been nervous about attempting the belt service. This gives me confidence and at the same time scares me. 🙂 Did you happen to take any video of the engine removal?? I would love to see how that went.

Dave

minatormyth says:

Fantastic effort that man, well done.
You are a brave man posting this information up, especially if you are a member of fchat forum. I am amazed that the experts are not ripping into you for no good reason other than they do. Thinking about it though you are in the 348 brotherhood, the twats usually raise there heads when its anything to do with the F355s. The 348 guys are well gelled together and the 348 guys rock!
Great job brother, your in my favorites 🙂

sonordrum1000 says:

@soucorp Yep. FYI I also did some on installing the SRI gold kit. Itks also on You Tube… just search “Ferrari 348 gold kit”. Thanks for the positive feedback. DIY is the only way to make these cars affordable!

soucorp says:
